Project Black Ice

Ok, so I have to hold my hands up and admit I've been hiding one of my projects from you lot. But to be fair this project only started materialising when I came across a previously reviewed case in my garage.

The project is based around the very sexy A+Case Black Pearl full tower case, and the aim of the project is to fit as much insane cooling inside this case as possible!! To give you an idea what I have in mind, here's the specs:

Intel CD2 E6850

8800GTS 640mb

Asus Blitz Extreme (Fully re-sinked)

OCZ DDR3 Kit

Custom phase change unit

Swiftec MCW60-T Peltier VGA block

Full water cooling loop for the GPU + 240mm rad.

7" Touchscreen TFT

Getting the phase unit into the case is certainly no easy task. First I had to drill out all of the drive cages and dividers shown below:

Then it was a case of carefully installing the phase change unit, squishing it together as much as possible, and drilling the holes in the right places to mount it:

Unfortunately I've hit a snag in that the evap head has to go around quite a tight bend to get to the CPU, so I've enlisted the help of a pro to re-locate the evap head.

Also at the same time the 38mm fan on the condenser will be switched for a 25mm 12v one to free up some extra space around the PSU area, but this means i'll need to install a seperate PSU just to power up the condenser fan at the same time as the compressor. I'll probably be using this little baby:

A 50w passive PSU

I've also just tried fitting the touchscreen and it's got plenty of room in the case:

I'll probably buy a dremel and cut this myself. If i fook it up a bit, i'll have some of that rubber trim on hand to cover it over
