Project Awesome

A little update for now...

My replacement 670 arrived earlier in the week along with a lamptron fc8 fan controller, corsair gt 240gb ssd, another 8gb of vengeance low profile ram and a copy of guild wars 2 :D

I've gone ahead and fitted the SSD onto the top of the current HDD bays using a strip of velcro to make sure it doesn't budge.
I don't think I will be keeping the mechanical drives in there for much longer and will no doubt have the SSD mounted elsewhere but this will do for now

Fan controller is a handy little bit of kit but I don't know if it will stay here or not as I am now considering a dual bay reservoir.

Looks awesome mate,
BTW what are your thoughts on those sleeved wires ?

IMHO they were to stiff for my liking...
rerason i got rid of them....

Sugestion: Move the SSD behind the motherboard tray so that it is out of sight and replace the Noctua fans with SP120's with the white ring. Overall nice build. :)

I do find them pretty stiff but workable. It's definitely a lot easier to work with these for cable management than having tons of extension cables shooting all over the place.

@SEBAR - The SSD will be no doubt moved behind the motherboard tray eventually, already thought of the sp's on the noctua though but didn't want to yank out the rubber then have a hard time getting it back in when I'm using them with a rad.

You're not mean to be like 'ERMERGERD!' and I don't expect anyone to be like that either, there's so many fantastic builds/projects on this forum already that are more 'awesome' than anything I'll ever post up here.

For me the project name is just what people would expect from me, I refer to a lot of things as 'awesome' so it fits well for a project name of mine and if its absolute garbage I'll still call it awesome anyway lol.

Been doing some testing with the GPU's today and have found that there is a lot of heat dumped from the second card in SLI.

Top card gets 64° full load with 60% fan and the other gets to 78-82° . . .

I know that temp is safe but its just annoying knowing that there's almost 20° diff in cards...
I haven't tried the second card on its own though in case it's a bad thermal job from the factory or something but I'll check that out tomorrow and will probably re-seat the cooler and see how it goes then.

Also I would like to say that today I received some Carbon Fibre Vinyl and although I had originally planned on just having it on the floor of my case I'm now thinking about covering the thermal armour on the motherboard and also my rad when I change over to watercooling. I'll probably pick up some blades for cutting in the coming week at some point and we'll see what I end up doing with it.

This looks really nice. I'm not a huge fan of the look of the Corsair fans, as I generally do not like interchangeable trim pieces, but I do like how the white trim of the fans looks through the front mesh in your case. I also like how you've taken the PCI-E power cables from both cards and formed the one large bundle, I think that looks really nice.

Hi guys, I haven't posted an update for a while as I've been pretty busy with other stuff but we're back in action now!

Since the last update I have placed the SSD onto the back of the motherboard tray using some velcro and I've added some carbon fibre film to the back panel and the drive bay panel too. I will get some pics up within the next few days so you guys can see what it looks like.

My original water cooling plans have been tossed and instead of a CPU loop I've opted to go for the full monty, It'll be my first watercooling attempt and I'm looking forward to it :D

Right now I am in debate with myself over which parts I'll be using but I do know that I will be modifying the floor of my case to take a 240 Rad and I may mod the roof to take a 360 but if not I'll use a 240 up there too.

At this current time I have 4 HDD's in the bottom cage attached to the chassis but those are going to go into a storage rig I have not long built from some spare parts I had lying around. I am unsure if I will remove that cage once empty as it may be useful for placing a pump and/or res as a lot of folk do with the Arc Midi. If I keep it I will have to do a little cutting to get the Rad in there but shouldn't be too much trouble tbh.

I should also add that I will be changing out the Power/Hdd LED's in the case pretty soon so I've got plenty to be doing!
