Professional noob incoming!

Hey there! The name's Jasper and I'm from Belgium. As the title already suggests, I am a complete noob when it comes to building systems and overclocking. Therefore, I'll be hanging around the forum to gain some knowledge on the matter.

I'm happy to learn this stuff, but for now, please don't get frustrated when I ask rather dumb questions :p. I'm here to learn it and hopefully be able to give advice myself in the near future. Experience ftw!

Here's my current rig:

CM Storm Trooper
MSI GTX 780 TF OC
i7-4820k
Scythe Katana 4 CPU Cooler
Corsair 2x8GB DDR3 Vengeance
Asus P9x79 LE socket 2011
Kingston SSD 2.5" 120GB HyperX 3K
Western Digital Harddisk 3.5" Green 4TB
OCZ 1250W Modular PSU, because I also wanted to power my fridge, hairdryer, TV and the house's central heating system. Unfortunately they didn't have a heavier one, so I can't charge my phone.

It's still pretty new, so everything's out of the box and not (yet) tweaked or modded. I noticed my GPU temperature was going up pretty high (around 64°C in-game and 75°C during the Valley benchmark from Unigine), so I'll be busy optimizing my airflow this evening.
I'm going to try that using the stock fans that were included in the CM ST case. If that doesn't live up to my demands, I'll be getting some aftermarket fans.

Thanks in advance and I hope to join your ranks soon!

Haha, and welcome to the forum, mate
You will get all the help you need over here. I must warn you, hide the OCZ stuff. Why? You will see.;)

Thanks man :D I've got a bad feeling about the OCZ part. Still going to wait it ou though, I want to see what happens :D.

EDIT: I just googled "OCZ sucks", I have a feeling what's going to happen :P

Ohemgeeeee OCZ sucksss! If Tom hears about this...

Welcome to te forums, mate! You got yourself a nice rig there.

You got some pretty nice hardware there, aside from the power supply......(I can't say a lot but I think my mxsp unit is one of the better units as it hasn't missed a beat.......... yet, so your could be ok. )

Have you put the power supply in the 'wrong' way round? (sticker upwards)

.
.

Welcome To OC3D

OCZ? Quick burn it! (lol jk it'll burn itself just fine...) Yeah OCZ have a terrible name and Tom has a few horror stories about the power supplies and I've never had a SSD from them that lasted more than a few months.

Welcome to the forums anyway :D.

Thats a good sounding rig, do you have any pictures to show us? Its not the size of the power supply we are worried about ;)

Will he laugh? Or will he cry? :headscratch:

Welcome To OC3D

I'm not complaining as long as it works ^_^ My fridge didn't explode yet, so I'm happy.

Is the sticker an indicator of where the flames will be coming out first? Not 100% sure anymore, but I believe I put my fan topside since I don't have a lot of spacing between the case and the floor ...

Yeah I already noticed that in the first 5 minutes I posted my introduction here :p I'd love to hear those stories. Are they creepy? I like creepy stuff. And radio-active stuff (as long it's not me getting irradiated).
I purposedly chose the Kingston SSD since I have good experiences with Kingston :P

Not yet. Unfortunately for YOU guys, I'm still learning this stuff, so it'll take a while until she's ready for her first beauty contest. I do have some pics somewhere from when I was putting it together though, I'll upload these to ease the pain a bit. In the meantime I'm still looking for badass ideas for the ST case.

Do you want ram, ssd or psu horror stories?

All of it! I have nothing to do anyway

*Grabs coffee*

Hasilyin, please don't double post, use the

button instead, thanks :)

Someone should build the "horror" rig. By that I mean Toms worse nightmare.
I'm talking: OCZ, Thermaltake, etc.
Of course, the psu would be upside down just for good measure.

Rrrrrright. It's been a long time since I've been on any forum at all, so I kind of forgot that. Thanks for pointing that out ;-)

Just putting this out (no pun intended).
The ocz psu theme:

We'll see about that! I'll just install watercooling so when the fire starts, the tubes melt and everything extinguishes. It's like a micro-sprinkler system. And everything will be fine. Totally not worried about the electricity - water combo.

Welcome to the forums.

Nice specs, shame for the OCZ psu, i had one blow on on a friends rig which i built.

I'm quite glad that company is bust now, i just hope Toshiba do a good job with their assets.

How did it blow then? I don't find too much information on ZX 1250's going haywire :/ The only thing that pops to mind is the lack of a MOV ...

Yeah, but they only took over the SSD division, no?

And thanks Excalabur50!!

I'll start of with the PSU horror :p It's lunchtime anyways

By the way, a lot of reviews on the ZX 1250W are fairly positive, am I being tricked by the internet?

I cant even remember the model of the 1000w model I had that went bang and took a rig with it.

Unless the reviews have a proper PSU tester then they are garbage
