Problem instead of a question! H80 ~ Corsair

Dual32

New member
Hey guys ,
I had my first build and wanted to change my air cooler into a all-in-one watercooler. So i bought the Corsair H80. My idle temps on a air cooler was 32-35C and now it is around 24-29. (it was even 21) So it was all good till i noticed something strange today... I was about to close my Sidepanel and saw a 'waterline' around the corsair fan (its the fan which is blowing the air in the case which is taken in by the intake fan) So i hope its not a leak or something ...or condensation...If it is condensation , is it because my pc is so positioned that the sun is shining at the back of the computer? I hope u guys can help me.

The sun shining at the back of your PC should not cause condensation afaik. You only get condensation on objects whose temperature is lower than the ambient temp, the sun actually heats your PC's back up, so that should not cause condensation, quite the opposite.

Have you checked if it's maybe not fluid from the fan itself? Possibly the bearing is leaking, or it's just something left over from manufacturing (badly cleaned up before shipping).

If it really is a leak in the cooler there should be liquid in other places as well.

Thanks for the answer! I hope it's what you said, just a little leak of the bearing ...
I will clean the fan and will put it on again and see if there is again a "waterline"...

(By the way , i cleaned it with a piece of paper , and there is an oily line , its like green and yellow, i think it was from the fan...)

I would do the same in your situation.

That definitely sounds like it's caused by the fan. If you're unlucky, the bearing's shot (==> new fan). If you're lucky it's just residue from manufacturing.

The Liquid is only on the level of the Motor/Blade Mount of the Fan.
Looks like Oil/Grease of the Motor.
The Corsair Fans running with ridiculously high rpm.

Put a piece of paper towel under the Liquid Cooler, to check the spreading.

I checked the fans again this evening. There are on both of the fans oily lines like on the picture i posted on the top. I think i need to buy two new fans for the H80. But still, the Corsair fans are running normal. The Shadow- and the Silentwings are on my list. I plugged the Corsair fans on a fan controller , running at 7V. Otherwise it would be too noisy. I hope the Shadow-, Silentwings are better.

I had the exact same thing with an H80 I just bought. It definitely wasn't the radiator, so if you've checked it for leaks, it wouldn't worry about it.

Maybe think about switching the fans at some point, as the stock H80 fans are loud
