I experienced a powerloss during a formatting of my hard drive. Now the PC recognises the hard drive but everytime I try formatting it, after about 4 hours in it says "error, could not format"

How can I fix the bricked hard drive?

(1TB WD Blue HDD)

Boot from a GParted usb stick, delete all the partitions on it and reformat :

Look Here

There are no partitions on the drive.

Trust me and just try it, you never know what windows does to a drive. I have had to sort out a few drives with GParted because windows cannot format even when it was originally in a windows PC.

The diskpart utility in a windows command line can fix a lot of issues that disk management cannot. I've had to use that quite a bit, but sometimes it's not enough. As FTLN said, GParted should clear it up.

One thing you might want to do if you do run GParted is disconnect any other hard drives you have so only the problem drive is connected. That'll make it easier to find in the list and also prevent you from accidentally wiping the wrong drive.

I tried running gparted running it off my USB but it gets stuck on the loading screen. I have tried burning various versions of the ISO to the USB and still it gets stuck on the loading screen.
