Powercolor HD6950 Temps

Hi Guys,
I'm about to invest in another monitor for my system (so i can have 3:cool:). I was messing around in CCC last night and noticed that my idle temp for my GPU is 61 degrees. I've read somewhere that the idle temp shoots up when you add another monitor so i'm a bit concerned. I've 3dmark vantage and the temp peaked at 86.

It's a reference design card but I have upped the bios to the 6970 bios. Do these temps seem a bit extreme. I've been reading that these cards seem to idle around 30-40.

Edit - Fans running at 30%

Thanks

How long have you had the card and when did you last give it a clean? My brother's gtx 260 was running very hot last year and when I opened it up, removed the dust in the heatsink and reapplied thermal paste it cooled down by 20 C!

It's had its 6 months compressed air clean the other day. I've had the card now for 16 months. If i end up having to open it up and clean and then re-apply thermal paste i'ld be tempted to put an aftermarket cooler on it.

When you say compressed air clean do you mean you just put the nozzle in a gap and blasted it? That does work a bit but if you opened it up you would be surprised how much gets stuck and needs the shroud removing to get rid of. Opening and having a look would be worth it I think, reapplying the TIM is annoying but the stuff you put on will probably be better than the stock stuff anyway and it should only take 15 mins or so to do everything.

Not blasted it, but to the effect. Then jacked the fan up to 100%, did get quite a bit come out of the back. I'll get on that this week, will post back with pics.
