Powercolor HD6950 loud at idle?

first time posting on OC3D, just wondering if anyone else has a powercolor HD 6950 because I find mine louder than it should be at idle.

I've had a look at other sites some people say it's very loud at idle and then some people say it's not that loud. I know it uses stock fans and with MSI afterburner the lowest I can get the fans are 24% and I'd like to know if there are other programs that can make it quieter?

You don't really want the fans going below 24%, as for the noise, what kind of noise is it?

you're probably right about not wanting the fans going below 24%, the noise is just fans at a high rpm, they are louder then all my case fans and my H100 fans. :/

this is why I wc'd mine lol them be leaf blowers no doubt. I actually gave up gaming until I got the blocks for mine just couldnt bear the noise.

I have a fairly quiet case and with 1 card (both a 5850 and a 6870) its loud idle. Crossfire its driving me round the twist lol.

Been thinking of aftermarket coolers, however plan is to watercool the lot when money allows.

I have a VTX3D 6970 (VTX3D and Powercolor are owned by the same company) My card is extremely loud when it spins right up. But the temp difference between 60%fan and 100% is at most 2 degrees C, I just set up a custom fan curve to stop it running so high.
