Power connector position across motherboards

Hi all,

I am messing about with cable routing for my scratch build and have been using my old 775 motherboard as a template for positioning things. I just wanted to do a quick sanity check as if I mess this up I will not be pleased

Am i right in thinking that the CPU and mobo power connectors will be in the exact same place on all ATX motherboards? I looked at the ATX specification and I think that is what it was saying but I wasnt sure. Is it possible that on some mobos they will be moved around a little?

I would use the motherboard I am actually going to use but I havent ordered it yet (slight cash flow issue) and aside from that there may still be steel dust/filings hanging around that I dont want to get in it.

Cheers guys.

they have the optimal positions but not always the same exact spot

atx 4/8 pin: Very top of mobo slightly leaning toward left side

24pin: along right hand edge

6+2 PCIe: at the end of card(right) or top right corner coming from top

SATA: along right hand side lening towards bottom(ussually 90* for easy cable management) sometimes along the bottom but not more than 4 there

Front pannel: always along the bottom these inc. usb, firewire, headphone, microphone, power button, reset button, power led, hdd led

there are some special custom mobos that are designed for special needs builds(not in a bad way) such as psu in the top etc. they are made to optimize the cable management

if you list the mobos we can tell you definatelly

Thanks for the help, Its fine I can sort the rest now. I will just have to take measurements from my mobo when i order it. Not a huge problem just delays me slightly.

Cheers guys.
