thank you all

cool as it would be good to see xfire vs single (5770) as you have the same CPU as me at similar clocks

CROSSFIRE FTW ! lmao. :D Wow that's actually unbelievable. Seriously unbelievable.

Don't be. £30 for my motherboard.

Yes it only splits into dual 8x PCIE but don't be fooled into thinking that you sacrifice much. Seriously dude, you lose something pitiful like 1000 marks. But when you are in the 16000 mark range that's absolutely nothing and a decent 16x+16x board will run you four times that much.

I wrote a review here in the member reviews. If you need help finding one holler. IIRC I got mine from Ebuyer, best purchase I have ever made EVER with computer parts.

As I say, don't be fooled by all this new fangled stuff. Each time they do it it makes a small difference. Cobbled together? sure, SATA 3 DDR3 full 16x may make a difference but I tell you, not a difference that is justified by the pricing. If you were out to build a new rig? oh hells to the yeah, go for it. But if you want to recycle your hardware the Alive Xfire is absolutely and utterly unbeatable for £30. I mean seriously, £30. That doesn't buy you much these days and you can see the difference clear as day.

Flog that 9800GTX you have faster than a 1800's slave and get another 5770. I mean the results are astounding. My overall score is almost double but the other stats are just ridiculous. How on earth can two cards nearly triple performance?

Deffo Crossfire FTW. I spanked my mate's 280 :D

i am trying to flog me 9800gtx i got some RAM to add aswell,i am usaly a fan of if u upgrade i do it proper I.E new CPU and motherboard and RAM,thats what i did last time

plus if i get a new mobo i need another CPU and RAM and its alot o cahss

The mobo I use uses the same CPU and ram you do. £30 plus another 5770 and you're all set to go.

And trust me when I say it makes such a difference you won't want to upgrade anything else. We are talking literally double the performance, the scaling is just incredible.

BTW just noticed you mentioned AM3. So you're actually considering binning your ram and getting DDR3?

DON'T. AMD only run dual channel any way so the only difference you will get is faster ram speed. And for the top stuff it's serious money. And the difference? again, minimal.

I'm so glad I have figured out why my mate's I5 spanked my CPU scores in 3DMV. Sure the I5 is much faster than the 940 but not as much as I figured. I didn't realise it was his Cuda cores helping out his scores.

Also, the 940 is AM2+. It does not have the controllers onboard to handle DDR3 and so it simply won't. The 945 is AM3 IIRC and so on (950 etc) but the 940 is strictly limited to DDR2.

Went on conservative clocks (852/1201) at 1.137V to keep the temps down. Same settings as above,

FPS: 99.9

Scores: 2516

Min FPS: 20.4

Max FPS: 291.8

Had closer to 104 FPS but it didn't save.

Yeah, 20fps min is pretty bad TBH, it was where windows tried to do something in the background...I think that's what took all my scores down. The rest of it ain't bad tho

nope deffo not bad fella, just shows how intensive that benchmark is,but its good to see some beches accros the board

and the 5970's are beasts lol

ok, i tried again with an overclock of: 1.25V, 950MHz, 5028MHz
