Post A Picture of Your Last Purchase

My GF smokes. She's 31. Has the lungs of a 75 year old...

Damage is done and there is no going back. Shadows all over the lungs. She is out of breath from 2 flights of stairs now.

A lot of what I read suggests that any damage you have done (like scarring) is irreversible but I can only speak from experience when I say that most of it is not. Your lungs basically clear themselves, and the tissue changes back to pink because there is more oxygen in them.

Seriously man if you had told me ten years back that I would be riding up to 15 miles on a BMX I would have laughed at you (and I was 13 stone then, not 17.5). I could not even run more than about 10ft before I gassed.

Giving up makes an enormous difference tbh. Like I said elsewhere I now play this game to see how long I can hold my breath for under water. Had I taken a breath like I can now when I smoked it would have triggered a massive coughing fit.

Some of my weight gain has been the pills I am on, some was giving up smoking I reckon. I just bought a Go Pro copy, so I am going to film my rides this year. Can't wait, it's so beautiful down here in places :)

So some bits I got. Cables for the JBL speaker (not running it BT)

Now these I didn't really want or need but I spotted them on Ebay. The last set cost me £55 or so. These were are £6.50, and I put in a offer for £20 (just for spares) and the price never went up.

Hoping the seller doesn't pull BS tbh. If not I will end up making another bike ffs. Ah well, something to do eh?

I got this too.

So I can film my rides (outwards).

Spot on the mark.

The lungs are pretty cool little organs, My 40 year old cousin stopped smoking 5 years ago, Her lungs now are pristine, she goes on 5 mile jogs every morning and is never out of breath, The key here is that the person has to want to change and get healthy and that comes down to willpower which is in short supply these days.

Actually yes and no. If you've been smoking a long time and have developed COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), which includes chronic bronchitis or emphysema, the lungs never totally heal. Chronic bronchitis is an inflammation of the airway. Some of that inflammation can be reversed but if secondary effect is scarring then they will not get even close to how they used to be.

Not trying to be an internet warrior, to argue or anything but, my dad died to smoking. Even after quitting for 15years, his lungs were still a problem. Some are lucky and can heal others can't. Sadly, knock on effect was that it destroyed his heart.

But... every post im reading today seems negative moaning at something on these forums so lets get back to posting purchases and being jealous :)

I bought a pair of wireless earphones for the gym. They're probably not going to sound up to snuff, but hey, I just need something cheap, practical, robust (enough) and with decent sound quality. Treblab's XR800.

The workshop is now my therapy after a day at the screens - its bliss.

Its nice to create / repair something too. When the XR2 fired up and sounded sweet it was a massive rush (ego boost)

Im currently working on the van, she sprung a leak and the effort Ive gone through to fix it has been INSANE

Workshop vlogs/build vids would be awesome. Just saying.

Did somebody say Spanner Monkeys this is my older brother fixing his old Ducati in his workshop ;) The bikes worth a five figure sum btw :)

Love it when people put effort into something they own....

I get 'grief' a lot asking me why I bother, I normally answer with "because I can"

I dont mean that in a financial way either, I mean that in a time and effort way

I have the utmost respect for projects like this. It teaches usable skills, keeps us occupied, and gives us the satisfaction of completing something.

Dream wife = a woman who is crafty. I can't exactly fix a car or even hang a shelf, but I am crafty in other areas. It doesn't have to be much, but a project you love to work on in your spare time is so cool.
