Post A Picture of Your Last Purchase

Ooh, they do look nice. £55 is nothing!

Yeah it's very, very cheap for ram atm. I have a feeling prices are falling a little and DDR3 is hard to shift because people want Ryzen. It's good and chunky too !

And the 533mhz speed boost will be appreciated. Here is how it looks now (well no, this is old, it looks far better than this now)

So aye, nice visual upgrade too. *hopefully* that should keep the Ryzen wolf from the door....

Didn't you sell the 5820K to buy a 1700? Didn't you already buy a 1700?!

Nope. I was *that* close to buying a 1700 and board, but because my wife and I separated I had to refund the guy for the 5820k and motherboard (mine).

I was going to upgrade my 5820k rig to Ryzen. However, I wanted the 1700, but I already have 2133 (IIRC) DDR4. So we were talking 2-300 points in Cinebench. I refuse to buy ram at current prices, so I went off the idea.

I currently run two rigs (the Linux one has been packed away until the football starts again). One is a 8 core Ivy 3.4ghz with Fury X (all water, two loops) and the other is a 5820k with a Titan X(M).

So what I am going to do is put the Titan XP (big P, not the new new one) in the 5820k rig, get rid of the TXM and put the new Klevv ram in my daily rig (the 8 core Xeon/Fury X/all water almost silent).

So both are getting an upgrade, and that will do me for another two years.

Epic. But with an 'i' and not a 'y'. ;) Congrats, mate!

If Vega really disappoints, I'm going to consider swapping back to Nvidia. It'll be a big expenditure though as I have a Freesync panel that I really like. It won't be able to happen for many months. We'll see.

Well one thing is for sure it will never beat a Titan XP. And I paid 1080Ti money for it too, so yeah, worth doing.

I've been watching 1080Ti prices for the past week. I *almost* pulled the trigger on a white Gigabyte card for £598 on Amazon Warehouse, but then calmed down a bit after the rush of blood to my head when I realised it wasn't a good card (didn't even have a back plate) and was on AW for a reason.

So yeah, been watching prices. Today (RAM going up again.. link in a sec !) the 1080Ti went up £20. From around £650 for a half decent Jetstream to £670. Only the crappy blower versions (not FE, horrid cheap plastic coolers) are £655 and I've spent all day looking.

I'm buying the T XP (big P not little) for £670. However, I am paying for it over the next 2.5 weeks in three payments which is absolutely ideal. Otherwise I would have had to wait 2.5 weeks then try and find something and also pray that I did not spend any money for 2.5 weeks (which would be a miracle for me !).

So yeah, pretty much the same price as any bog standard 1080Ti, only I get that ^ box and that ^ cooler.

RAM prices to go up as of today (and they already have)

Sweet deal! And you're likely to be able to recoup most of that money, I'd say, with a Titan than a 1080Ti when Volta or whatever else it is comes out.

Not sure if I will buy Volta new. It's highly likely to be a repeat of what I've done ever since I ended up with three Titan Blacks. I bought my Fury X a week after launch for £430. Had a result there, no pump whine either (not that it matters now it's fully WC) and the Titan X I *think* about a year ago for a total cost of £500 including the EVGA Hyrbid (was £40 inc) and back plate (£1 plus £16 shipping, go EVGA !)

With 1070 prices rising I will easily clear £300 on that. So that's not too bad. Thing is I have hardly even used it (the Titan XM). It's not even been powered on for about six months.

Great purchases Alien! Loving that Klevv RAM too!! They make some truly elegant heatspreaders. I particularly like the one with the little white LED triangles but it's DDR3 only :/

I've got a vibe they are not making any ram now tbh. I've not seen any DDR4 from Klevv. Would be a real bummer that.

They actually two with three models (top ones and left beneath it):

Don't ask me where to buy them though; I sure cannot find them.

Regarding your shiny new Titan XP, can you switch off the green GeForce words on the side of the card? Just curious because they don't really fit many lighting schemes.

You can. Well, I could on my Titan Black. EVGA did an app for it. You could have them pulsing etc. Doesn't matter because my PCs are to my left, so I don't see inside them.

If I move to Nvidia I might buy the 2080 or 2070 (I hope they call them that rather than 1180 and 1170, or better yet start a new nomenclature) as soon as they become readily available and all the kinks are ironed out, even if prices are as high as the 1080 and 1070 were.

A chilli man eh?

Have you tried a Carolina Reaper yet?

Much better fresh than dried and kinda kicks your arse in a big way

No, I've only ever tried one very hot chilli. I can't remember what it was, but it was a step or so behind a Ghost and it had just been thawed from frozen. I'm not sure if that makes a difference. I'm not a huge fan of really spicy chilli unless it's balanced well. I had a delicious Thai soup last night at a new restaurant in my town and it had this really delightful kick in the back of your throat. It was more of a ginger spice than a chilli spice, but it still had a kick. I also love good wasabi as it's very complex unlike some chilli's which can be little more than an intense bitter heat.

I've treated myself to one of these:

Got it for £608 off Amazon last night. The only catch is I wont get it for the next couple of weeks but I'm not complaining at that price. My GTX 1070 will just have to suffice for now :p
However the EK waterblock and backplate will be here tomorrow so I'm well prepared.

Sugar free is worse for you than sugar uugh! But nothing wrong with a bit of junk/comfort food every now and then :)

It's not outright worse for you, it's a bit more complicated than that. But if you're going to binge for a day on sugary treats, the sugar free version would be a much better option in that case.
