If you are expecting a newer version of 2070 then probably not it's had changes, the production lines aren't as complicated there no building ships to transport from 1 island to another, no random generated maps, no enemies where your building.
You start off in the temperate zone pick your start location out of 3 go through the missions and open the artic zone again pick your spot out of 3 and then go to the moon and have 3 locations, once you get enough credits you can buy the other locations you didn't start in. the production buildings start as 1 building that can be upgraded if you have enough rare resources these can be built on any island there no islands that can only grow X, as usual the population have needs to upgrade to the next level not all there needs can be produced in a zone so you need to build in the different zones to get all the needs met. Rare resource though you can't produce them they can be got by side missions (orange Stars or dots) on your map or doing battles from the strategy map.
Now that being all said I got my copy from G2play with the season pass for £36 for that price for me yes it's well worth getting I've enjoyed playing it so far I haven't unlocked everything yet because I'm learning the in's and out's. for the full price my opinion no game should cost that much.
My concerns are there's only 9 areas to play (more coming in DLC) to start and that once you have mastered what's the best layout how much replay value is going to be in there, how much DLC and cost Hoping the season pass cover more than just the first 2
So if my thoughts on the game sound good to you then maybe it's worth it, if not then maybe not.
P.S always my suggestion is to see some YT video's to get an idea (NSN does an reasonable overview). think this is the longest thing I have typed in a long time
