Post A Picture of Your Last Purchase

Yeah I'm quite sure I've used up all my PC luck for the next year ^_^

Yea you got a deal there for sure.

The last 2tb nvmes drives i got that i needed, was buy one get one free as the seller sent an email saying he was so sorry for being away and before I had chance the 2nd one turned up in the post :D So 4tb's for £55.

You still got a good price thou for that class of drive.

Made some use of black friday to nab some long interest free credit on a massive order, relatively speaking.
First, a new-smaller case for my PC. Fractal Meshify 2 Compact Solid.
I'm done with lighting, aesthetics, and all that jazz so I'm ditching it all. I just want my rig to be quiet and cool, nothing else.

Next, my Corsair exodus continues. I noticed my RM850 was over 10 years old so I've replaced it with a Seasonic Prime PX 750

A long overdue upgrade for my PS4 as well.

And lastly. I'm starting a new home server project and I wanted to run ECC RAM, not cost a fortune, and not be a 10 years old refurb. So Ryzen had to be the choice. Motherboard will be this AsRock B550M Pro4, CPU will be cooled by this Pure Rock LP, and this Samsung 980 SSD for the boot drive.

Not decided on a CPU yet, will most likely be a Ryzen Pro APU so I can use the integrated GPU for offline maintenance, if I can get my hands on one, anyway.
RAM, I'll be using Kingston server premier, since that's the only place I can find that sells unbuffered ECC RAM rather than registered ECC.
Initial hard drive plan was 4 x 8TB drives in RAID-Z1. However, since RAID-Z expansion got merged on the ZFS Github a few weeks ago I might make it RAID-Z2 instead for better failure tolerance.

Very nice, congrats! I'm in the same boat, have grown tired of RGB and just want an non light PC that simply works, cool and quietly if possible as well :)

You certainly got your moneys worth out of that RM850 damn! Good for you! :)

Just an FYI regarding that LP cooler, it may have it's fins oriented towards the I/O and memory. Most LP coolers on the market have it this way on AMD platforms for some reason. It may push the CPUs heat onto the memory, know from the SFF community that this has been on for discussion for a while. Just thought I'd give you an FYI :)

Cheers mate. I'm glad I'm not the only one in this boat. I kinda had an epiphany that making my PC light up was all good for showing off, but after that, it was just turned down and ignored, so I just thought, what's the point? I've still got some light up Corsair MLs but they're going to get replaced with Noctua NFs at some point in the future as well.

I reckon I could squeeze some more life out of the RM850, but I don't like running old PSUs on my main system since if it fails, there's a chance for some quite expensive damage, so I thought now is a good time as any to retire it. Although I did not miss those damn flat PSU cables one bit! Might bite the bullet and buy some braided ones from CableMod or wherever, just so I don't have to deal with them. Honestly, bundling these flat cables with top rate PSUs is a crime against humanity.
Aye, I considered that with the cooler (thank you AMD for keeping with the stupid rectangular cooler mount spacings rather than square so we can rotate our coolers but whatever). But since the RAM I'm going to be running is normal DDR4 2666 and doesn't even have a heat spreader, it should manage alright. I'll be tuning the CPU and undervolting it, so it'll be more in the region of 35W TDP rather than 65W. It sounds daft, but given that my current server is running an AM1 Athlon 5350, moving to—hopefully—5000 series Ryzen will be a collossal performance jump; hell, even first-gen Ryzen would be a mighty leap from what I have now, lel.

If I was to list everything it having been Christmas I'd be here all day. Mainly gifts for my great nephews and nieces only ones I brought for thou sisters friend has a crazy thing for hedgehogs she had ordered via me, so i was like wrap them and forget about it it's Christmas.

Main things I done is GF needs her iphone repaired and so for now got her a semi decent budget android until we get it fixed.

Then for myself I got a few games Alan Wake 2 surprised they then gave me the first remastered one gratis was cheap at £20. Other games Forza Horizon 5 Ultimate, DLC for automobalista 2 and then Lego Starwars the skywalker saga.

Only game I was short on funds wise that I would have got was Dead Island 2 but there that is life and i've had a decent Christmas this year for my age to get anything gift wise is nice however simple, but nice seeing the little ones opening, thou one of them was excited enough to want to open mine lol I said you can open but you can't keep, mostly haribo and rum is what i got like gift pack things, then the normal smellys.

I hope you all had a decent few days and of course a good new year enjoy it stay safe and try not to go overboard on the drink just have a very decent time to you all here :)

The one i had lasted well got knocked over hard on the table the other week when gaming with friends, so ordered the exact same model, think I had the last one three years total, by far the longest lasting mod box and sturdy that i've owned an easy buy at £38 off ebay.

The screen must have got hit hard as it slowly garbled and started blacking out across the screen gradually, over three days certain battery's started not working and by the time the new one arrived 20% of the screen was black thou saying that it was putting up a fight and still working, which is good as i need it lol Still new one is certainly excellent and reminds me just how good this product is, while costing half what i paid last time around, was kinda tempted for the legend 2 but tbh the X is the better version :)

Well being birthday ordered a bunch of stuff mostly clothes and posters random things.

Few films was happy to see wonka to buy on prime as it doesn't release physically until December bit of a big fan of these films.

Also ordered the tomb raider trilogy remake wouldn't normally preorder anything but at £20 for the best of the series sure no problem.

The main item I got was this k10 max drone with extra battery's would like to mess around and make some videos with it, something me and friends did many years ago was making short films needless to say capture cards back then were insanely expensive.

Still at £40 it'll do and way cheaper than the real pro drones that cost 800 plus let alone some kind of military grade

Been an expensive day but like everyone mostly bills that needed paying and since I'm too old for people to bother with gifts it's the one time I can treat myself without any guilt.

Well the mod I had lasted years just took one heavy knock to the screen but I was happy to get again really like it but if and when it oes again I added the one you linked.

I'm 46 thou being honest none of us have long to go depressing I know but for me it's a very real feeling just know a little too much at times.

Well your birthday may have been last week but I wish you well all the same, just not around much atm busy with other things mainly girlfriend and all the crazy issues it can come with.

Still like anything in life enjoy it while it lasts.

Friend Scott is now converted to pc as.much as he enjoyed the steam deck in the end realised how much he likes my setup with the wheel, he went rebuilt did warn him but he knew just doesn't have the time but there he could have asked me to build it but just didn't idk why.

But now he's already saying in 2025 he wants to go fully into a whole build, I think he's underestimating the costs he's looking st

Update.

Have been considering a mini pc thou can't justify the cost for my use case on anything too modern

So opted for an older generation laptop on the cheap Amd A12-8800b Radeon 7 8gb ram 256ssd 14inch

Also picked up a display port to hdmi cable wireless keyboard with track pad as I'll not need a mouse for my use and the normal carry bag for it total cost £110. Intend to use it for light gaming ie not pc games lol, thou the laptop is able to play something like gta v at basic settings.

Cheap off eBay didn't get storage yet as unsure what it has inside but can do m.2 and a hdd or ssd but until I have it in hand idk what's in it just that it's 256gb, I have extra drives on hand but I might spend extra depending, thou at the cost it was doesn't seem worth it just yet but I will need more than 256gb for my use case nothing too modern.

Cheap option vs a minis forum pc I was looking at but for my use fine, can always use the steam link again for modern games just looking at ways to not have the pc online 24/7 if I wish to play a game elsewhere.

The laptop cost was £70 so for overall cost of £110 I'd say it was value of course a ryzen laptop would have been a better choice but also more expensive this is for retro TV things of old nothing that needs huge power.

Plus this way I can also use it on the move, just seemed like a good budget option thou hopefully I'll not regret it least newer than this type I had last time around when diablo 3 was my thing, but it played it well so this being newer should be fine.
