Post A Picture of Your Last Purchase

Stop buying cheap leather cases then. Mine has a magnetic clasp and shaped exactly like above. Ive dropped it on tile flooring and case absorbed it all. If you look closer the case extends further than the phone to counter the very comment you are trying to say it fails at.

The stitched leather edge is not cheap and soft. It is there to withstand impact.

This. I paid £60 for the case on my Blackberry Passport. Genuine leather, absolutely beautiful. I still have it and it still looks as good as the day I bought it.

As for this one? tbh? I reckon this would have cost about the same at launch.

Full silicon on the back. The front is triple layer.

BTW FWIW? I have never, ever broken a phone. Or dropped one. Quite simply because I always buy unlocked sim free phones, and they are expensive. However, to give you an idea of what I spend on calls? about £20. Every two years. So it is well in my interest not to get a cheap phone and get into a contract.

I would have bought a much nicer case for the ROG phone, but sadly none were available.

It's worth spending on the case's thou, leather ones are always more expensive is why i went the miracase route, but yea with that low amount of phone use the contract makes little sence, for me i mostly use it for the 5g internet and some texts and odd calls, but i don't have broadband etc i think they hate me as since getting drives with that sas card I downloaded 3tb last week LOL

Big difference between PU and actual leather thou, i just prefered the miracase as cheaper and without the need to open anything, it's just durable and covers the phone 100% drops would be fine and even if i slammed it down i expect the case might break but the phone would be fine. but there your case was most likely 3x the price of mine :)

Now I didn't say that I purchased an leather case now did I? So not sure why you go out all on me here... All I stated was that leather cases usually are more an luxury product than anything else.

I was simply giving an tip for Alien, since family members have used cases like that and it didn't go well for them.

And regarding your comment about the case extending further than the phone and hence makes my comment fail. Just because it's longer than the phone, doesn't make it any stronger/resistant to falls.

Exactly. Does make me laugh when people pay £1200 for a phone then walk around waving it about with no case on.

I guess being old does something. I have never had just one of those back cases either. Always get the ones that full cover the screen.

Oddly enough I have never sold any phones either. Got a lovely pile of them at home lol, including my BB Porsche.

Dawelio. Mate, that could not be more wrong. The good leather cases are usually the best for quality and protection. Why waste cow hide otherwise? I mean even Mr China doesn't do that.

Well I’m just speaking out of own experiences regarding ”leather” cases.

yea my case acts as a screen protector without me to need to put some sticky mess over it no scratches, doesn't hinder it's use.

I wanted to get something similar to yours from a certain brand called nikita they are similar but they have a solid hard plastic backing that clips perfect to the phone, you would never be able to break a phone with one of them cases solid magnetic clip, you would be able to kick it about for an hour and it'd be fine.

for me a phone is for general calls etc i only spent more this time around as i intended to ditch broadband and virgin had 5g here and before i moved better signal than my 3 coverage was, so made sense as a transtion, but tbh idk if i'll get broadband at a later date or just stick too 5g.

I couldn't see myself spending 1k on a phone even mine was £700 but if it hadn't been such a good contract it'll have worked out a lot more, just see it as a long term device and next time if i need one something similar.

I do think it's crazy that people spend a ton on a phone then smash the glass for not having it protected, seen many friends having done that, two of them got S21 ultras both smashed screens within 2 months.

The way the term is waved around now dude they probably aren't leather at all. Every one calls it that now, and it is only when you dig into the description you find it. Use your nose. You can tell within seconds if it is genuine.

If it ain't? it will go back as soon as it arrives.

Actually thats what I do now. Albeit, I dont pay for my phones.. its funny that they design them to be thinner and thinner and we slap a thick chunky case on them :)

Over time I found that the leather cases I used were too bulky in my pocket :D
The bulge is certainly noticeable, wink wink***

hehehe "Is that your phone or are you just pleased to see me?" :D

So the phone arrived earlier. It's basically a new phone, albeit with one small caveat.

I watch a dude on Youtube called Hugh Jeffries. I don't know why, as I am not an Apple fan, but he does some cool repair videos. Any way, I was well versed in what to look for. Face ID, True tone, etc. It all checks out. The caveat? the battery health is 82%. Which tbh isn't that bad.

Also I never put my phone in my pocket. I just put it in my back pack. Hence why I like it covered from all sides. The case should be here shortly, and I just got this.

In 6ft. Because the Asus uses something daft like a 40w charger the cable is uber short and bloody annoying. Also, and I guess it was another tiny caveat, the charger they sent and the cable are junk. It's 5w, and would take all day to charge the bloody thing. So I got a pack of two 18w.

Just updated it to 16.4, as I wanted my 21 new emojis LOL. So I should be able to start using it shortly.

And without the case there's no bulge... You poor lad :D

Well that's friggin annoying ! I can't believe I bought these.

As for the phone? I absolutely love it. Things have changed a lot since I had the 4S, and for the better. You can couple being older with that though, as I do far less on a phone than I used to. But it has all been completely painless. One ball pain I expected to have was having to write down all of my Google passwords and put them into Safari, but nope, even that was completely painless. I just installed Chrome, signed in, then opened Safari and it copied all of them over. Amazing.

By 10pm my eyes were very tired as I had been on it all day. So instead of joining the LAN night we do on Weds evenings remotely as I do I just installed Discord and watched it over a stream.

Bit eventful for me recently. I had been considering retiring my Vega but in the end, it made the decision for me, RIP.
I had some spare cash that month so I thought:"f' it, new motherboard as well!"
So now I'm joining the anti-RGB movement, sorry Dice :D
New motherboard: NZXT B550

New GPU: MSI Radeon 6750XT Gaming X Trio

I wanted an XFX card, but none were available at an acceptable price the day I bought this. Guess what was down in price the day this got installed in my PC...
Anyway. GPU performenace difference is pretty damn remarkable, should see me through another 5 years or so. FSR is pretty neat, too.
Plus, now I'm a 500 series motherboard, I've got PCIe 4.0, RAM sharing to my GPU, and I can run my entire system at full tilt with no issues.
I have turned PBO off though because I don't care for it. CPU has been ramped up to 4.4GHz at 1.2V which is solid as a rock. I could go for more, but I would probably see diminishing returns so it won't be worth it.

Finally got myself one of these:

After a few weeks, I'm converted. I don't use my keyboard for games anymore, this has replaced it. Getting back into Elite Dangerous now!

Lastly, another 5 year plan in motion. Retired my OnePlus 6 for a OnePlus 11:

First impressions are good, silky smooth, bonkers performance, and rooted it absolutely no problem. I would prefer a better camera, but then I'm wandering into Samsung territory and helllllll no at their prices.

Green is where it's at !

I bought a nice mint condition 1996 Primo Hemorrhoid.

From a pal of mine. It is for the bike I doing. I lost my vernier. I think it is in the attic but it's so cold up there atm I can't be arsed looking. So I got a cheap crap stand in to measure for the spoke lengths.

Which worked as you would expect, so I ordered the spokes.

Make sure you enable SAM. It's really good. Personally I don't bother with FSR. It made the game look nasty, and the FPS gains weren't that great. Certainly not worth the visual degradation any way.

I'm not having any issues with the 6700XT at 1440p tbh. So you should be more than set.

I wouldn't buy XFX. You are much better off with a high end card like that from someone else. Their warranty is trash too.

SAM was the first thing I made sure was enabled so I don't really know what the performance uplift is in what games I play compared to without it, but hell, free performance is free performance, haha.

I've only really tried FSR on Flight Simulator and was happy with the overall results. Getting that to run smoothly is a challenge in itself so I'll take it. That being said, FS2020 is literally the only game I've got on my PC that supports it so my opinion may most likely change in time.

At 1440p, are you running at 60 or 144 FPS? Right now I'm at 1080p/75 and I'm on the fence whether to up the resolution or the framerate. I've never been exposed to a screen running at 144Hz so I have no idea what the difference between 60/144 is actually like in the real world. Especially since I don't play any sort of online competitive games and whatnot.

That the case with XFX? I remember the original 5000/6000 series cards having cooling issues but I thought that was sorted. My old XFX RX 480 is still chugging along without any fuss. Maybe I just got lucky.
