I just noticed now... people are ripping off designs from Thingiverse and selling them on etsy. Such a shame. I was going to upload my designs, but would suck if I saw someone using them to profit. :(

Yeah, it is a huge problem for 3D printers. I have heard of designers getting sellers banned from test over this. They own their designs, even if they make them available on Thingiverse.

I have also heard of some folks who had people contact them to organise a profit-sharing arrangement for these types of sales. Though that only applies to the online sellers who have morals. Asking permission and offering money to sell their designs online.

Damn that sucks, But then again if someone REALLY wants to protect their designs they aren't going to upload them to a place like ThingiVerse where all files can be downloaded for free.

nah its not that, id prefer to share the designs for everyone. Open source is providing hard work to all others for free. You want it, sure, its there.

But when someone downloads your design, and then puts if for sale on a website, it stings a little. Even though you seller is using his materials etc. Its still a bit "rude" to take the hard work of another and profit without permission.

Its like a minor case of torrenting games.

I can totally understand that, Is there not a rule in place on ThingiVerse stating all designs are not for sale but for personal use ?

Yeah, but those rules need to be enforced, and this kind of thing can go unnoticed for a while. By the time the creator realises that their designs are stolen it could be months after the design theft started (theft might be too strong of a word there).

It is up to the designer to protect their designs, and good luck getting people to stop.

https://www.gov.uk/copyright

You automatically have copyright to anything you create(In the UK at least), and someone else copying that automatically infringes on your IP(Which is illegal), the issue with really legally protecting your IP is that... it costs money(Legal fees), so when it comes to stuff people are already giving out for free, you have to be quite wealthy to pursue people stealing your idea for profit if you yourself are not making money from it.

Not strictly tech related, but an inexpensive SDS Drill to drill some holes for ethernet cabling into my Living Room.

It's the Titan TTB653SDS. Pretty affordable at £60

Nice keyboard! hope you enjoy it, had my eye on it but didnt go for it in the end.

It was a tough choice for me too it was between this or the Ducky Shine 7 but they had no stock nor eta on the Ducky and the fact that I like white stuff this was the best of the white keyboards I could get here so I thought why not

How come? Which/what was the reason you didn’t?

I felt the media keys were severely lacking on these keyboards, been used to corair's layout with a wheel and wanted more of that, fortunately the HyperX elite series keyboards have prettymuch the same thing so went for that.

Thats interesting, because I have always turned away from keyboards with media keys.

1. I never saw a point in them, that a few quick mouse clicks couldnt fix
2. Increased unnecessary costs.

personal preference in the end, but I always scratched my head at people who chose keyboards for the media buttons.

The Ducky boards though... I think I need to make that switch asap. Just keeping hold of my cash for now after splashing out £1300 on the valve index... thank you import taxes.. :(

Love my media keys for next songs on spotify and instant volume control without tabbing out, its quicker to go from mouse to the volume wheel then it is to ajust my receiver's volume output, esp since the volume knob on that is knackered, it needs cleaning but oh well.
