They sent me a link to purchase a standalone cable - circa €25 so now I'm having fun seeing if the advise / recommend that I do so in an email. Also seeing if they will confirm that I bought an obsolete unit - rock solid unit though. I've had Hydra running a scan on the CPU for the last 8hrs or so, with the previous Thermaltake or EVGA, it would have locked up or rebooted at least twice by now.

Gave me a PFO and stated no difference in cabling quality or PSU when used with 40 or 50 series Nvidia cards. Just make sure you seat it properly.

On the subject of hifi things. Had a bit of a pain in the dick lol. I bought upgrades for my Tag Mclaren AV32. When they arrived and I took it out of the rack and opened the lid there were no sockets on the main board. Turns out my unit is number 99 and was made in 1999. So extremely early and 7.1 and DAB did not exist. FUG. Emailed the seller and he said he would send me his bottom part with his board in. Excellent. So today it arrived and I swapped on my face panel and lid, and then installed the upgrades.

So now I am buying stuff to fulfill the upgrades. I did have a very expensive set of speakers but they would need to go on stands and I would have a tenner I will trip on one and send it flying. So instead I changed it up. Firstly I bought these.

60 odd quid on clearance. I then saw these for sale on Ebay.

And the silly sod left the model on Ebay. So I sent that over to my mate lmao

And he is going to print me the two pods. With solid bottoms, which will be screwed into the floor. Far more discreet and less dangerous. They will aim upward at the sofa from the sides.

So, more things needed. Firstly.

And of course the pattresses.

I then bought 10m of wire. This runs through the wall taking the wires to the back of the system. I've already fitted loads and CAT 6 plates.

And then a load of banana plugs. I will wrap the pods in grey carpet to match the floor. Unfortunately I realised that the DAB antenna I fitted did not have the BNC adapter. Fourth one down. This is what is on the back of the AV32 now. So this kit was like 6 quid or what not.

Asked my mate to print the pods. He can't. He had a leaking roof so the 3d printer etc is all in storage. OK fine I will just pay the dude 35 quid for them.

Woke up this morning having bought and received 30 quids worth of carpet and sound deadening to a bleaty email saying he couldn't do them and has refunded me. After three days. Tosser.

Yeah ouch. However, when I went to a audio shop online I have used before I spotted them for 250 quid open box. A trusted company too. Went to buy them and it said if I had a VIP account I could get another discount. Thing is I had no idea how to do that. Figured you had to pay for it. Logged in to said website (I bought my rear L52 from there two years ago) and...

The only thing I do not like is the veneer. It won't match anything in my flat. So I am going to cover the sides in said carpet. Perfect.

So to celebrate I bought the final set of RCA I needed on sale for 55 quid half price.

I nearly bought a used 4080 fe. Then realised I'd either need to water cool it or buy a new case and psu. Maybe later lol.

Well that turned expensive... Sold some stuff to a mate. Not PC related. Bought a new GPU for 700 quid.

Well, I say new I mean used.

And then it dawned on me that I could not use it. The case I wanted to put it in is water cooled only. Sounds bizarre but true.

So easy right? buy a new case. Well that's the thing. I don't want a big ass heffa desktop standing in front of my TV unit any more. Thought about going ITX but don't want a hot box. Then thought about going MATX but boards for the CPU I want to use (12700K) are non existent now. Ugh. So the only board I could find was ITX and for a double whammy kick in the balls DDR5.

However, I soon found a nice case that is very compact and suits my decor. It'x MATX but some guy whined on OCUK reviews that if you use a MATX the bottom slot gets blocked. Which I don't care about, and, given I run a ITX board at mums in a giant ass case it deffo works. So, I got that case.

I also got this. Not sure if I will use it but for the sake of 10 quid why not.

So then onto the board. Not cheap ffs.

What I did manage to find though was this. Used it in my desk rig, loved it, 83 quid for 32gb

And of course my 360 aio won't work. Well it will but not without choking air in there.

Am hoping my 750w Strix PSU (ATX) fits. It says it does so we will see.

The good thing is what I sold paid for it all. So I don't feel quite as bad as I would have.

OK so I did some more research. PSU is absolutely fine bar one caveat. You can not use a dual 6+2 pin pcie on the 4080 super. You need to use three PCIE cables into the adapter and my PSU only has two. However, what it does have is two EPS. So I am going to make a third PCIE cable with it. Got tons of connectors and the pinouts. Oh. My PSU is one of these.

Seasonic, IIRC. So absolutely no need to replace.

Forgot to buy a contact frame. I bought my 12700K literally on launch day and they weren't even a thing yet. I really didn't want to have to pull the entire board out so I just left it be. However now I may as well. I did get a chuckle when I looked them up.

No I am not rich it was only 9.99. I guess Roman decided to make a cheaper and more cheerful one. So that has been ordered as well as 3 of these. I don't have any spare fans here apart from one Lian Li (nice it is, will go in the roof to exhaust) and I hear that you may run into clearance issues with a big GPU. These were on sale for 6.49 each so I got three for now. When I replenish my bank account I might get more but probably won't bother.

Well it’s all the things i dislike but im sure it will be fine don’t expect melted PC from you alien, it’ll keep you busy in the irl fallout game that’s about to start, but at least it’s a 4000 series card that much i can agree with if i’d seen a 5000 series card i think I’d question your judgement, though you just live to mess around and tinker if you haven’t got 10 projects on the go your bored. Me i’ve almost done everything just waiting on a gigantic box from china atm maybe by end of April

I’m looking towards zen 6 now and done atm bike is ready but I’ve found it impossible to get a decent stand that works with the frame so given up on that just some mudguards to pick up now.

Thou i’ve a few PC bits to order next week now that prices have settled then it’s done in the gaming room bedroom and bike beach etc until zen 6.

Cause hot dam it’s been an expensive few months

Cost as usual dude. Like literally it was cheaper than a 9070XT and basically there are none of the latter. Besides and I feel really stupid saying this but I bought it to literally play two chapters of HL2 lmao. Mind you the full game should arrive soon... But yeah, it was that or 600 quid for a 9070.

The bummer cost is basically replacing this case. Though tbh I don't regret it as I have had it for 5 years now and it is too big.

And like I said, you can not use an air cooled GPU in there. Not even a dual slot one (which that 6800XT is, and that blower fan almost touches the glass but did not have any adverse affect on temps). A triple slot air cooled card literally will not fit. Besides like I say, it is huge and unwieldy and hard to move without touching the glass and then having to clean it. It's gone through two upgrades now. 3950x to 12700k and 2080ti kingpin to 6800XT so I have deffo had my money's worth out of it. Just sucks I could not find a DDR4 board for the 12700k but then even if I did it would have been no good as the RAM I have is 8gb x 4. And 16gb doesn't cut it any more.

I also get to sell the case, GPU, board and RAM in there. Which will recoup a chunk. Well, knowing me I will wrap it in a sheet and stuff it in a closet lmao. Will be nice to have a spare GPU though. And a good one. Not had that luxury for many many years since the prices got daft.

Yeah my Golden child GPU is with the nephew on loan as it’s never getting sold, least you have a good reason with half life and as much as my 9070xt played that as a breeze I wasn’t getting the fps you will thou perfectly playable at 90fps but that was using optiscaler and fsr4 etc it’s a decent game still and it feels good but apart from the graphics upgrade don’t expect anything else but oh it was a nice 2h30m streaming that very much enjoyed it.

The 9070xt is definitely a very good card and tbh as good as what you just got with the 4080S cause i definitely see in many games it’s more like a 5080 than a 5070ti not across the board but certainly not in all cases and performs very well in dxr the difference is huge vs my 6800xt and i’d say that is a fair comparison to be made in terms of where they have come from cause if they made a 9080xt oh boy i think nvidia would really want to jump cause they don’t like being second but i think by udna there is a very good chance that they will be least in gaming as the partnership with sony is paying off massively.

Cause vs my 6800xt is a double up in dxr and all them games that were difficult to get working well and playing fully, well now it’s max settings and good framerates literally night and day difference and so i do feel in gaming regardless of if they need it nvidia are done cause can you see them reducing their prices increase in performance with a decent chunk of vram nahh they wont admit they are wrong they will continue the marketing gimmicks.

But there it’ll keep you busy and playing half life at least worth it thou new doom soon tasty

I'm not interested in the new Doom. It's stupid money and I didn't even play the last one through. I did just buy Atomfall though ! very excited about that it looks incredible.

I also got the new AC for free. About four months ago lmao. Came as a code when I bought the 14600k back in January, but could only redeem it last week. Not even installed it yet apparently it's a bit erm... Woke. Really not my sort of thing. Dunno, will use it as a fall back. Indy was deffo worth the money though I bloody loved that.

Yeah Ive not really picked anything new up since the card im undecided on games but been playing through different things i modded the new version of gta v but rockstar keep messing around with things so it keeps getting messed up but the save file in the end said hold off on enjoying it futher but playing RE4 a bit as much as others atm the last doom was really good not done the dlc yet cause i had an odd save bug in that, it made it impossible too progress so need too restart the dlc idk the price on anything game wise atm i just been playing stuff I hadn’t since august as i diverted to the bedroom over winter.

So atm im not certain on a game i really want but i know there been enough kinda disappointing games lately and looking at the release list well idk.

But switch 2 sadly for me might be a thing cause metroid prime 4 and well idk wtf nintendo were doing the last idk how many years but they maybe might be doing something good for a change cause they been crap since the gamecube imho.

Still zen 6 or a cheap zen 5 depending is definitely on the cards but it all depends tbh cause im kinda surprised my 5800x doesn’t really hold the card back much tbh its just anything cpu heavy.

I miss the era where ubi made an effort like farcry 2 tech and the new ac idk if good game or story etc but the tech has me interested certainly.

Well i only paid £149 for my 5800x in same board i had the 1700 in this past month is the least frugal Ive been in my life but lots of reasons as to why single life has it’s perks though also it’s drawbacks but there since the last 4 wont leave me be on valentine’s day i sent them all a picture of the iphone 16 pro max and said happy valentine’s day

My OCUK order (case, panel and board) are coming today with DPD. RAM contact frame and cooler also today with Amazon apparently.

GPU is coming Tuesday. I asked him not to ship it until Monday as the stairs are a killer. Twice a day is enough for anyone.

Hoping my pinning tools are here. Need to convert an EPS into a third PCIE.
