I’ve been thinking about upgrading my 5.1 in to a newer standard with the atmos but the prices vs what i paid are horrific but unless it’s atmos it’s pointless but I don’t mind spending some just not vastly thou would prefer it to be a unit that has TV arc but also if it had some newer methods like bluetooth or blu ray dvd built in.

But good sound quality is more important than high volume as when my little speakers are up max they don’t distort but really shakes the room and my box bedroom ends up like sitting in side a speaker box it’s awesome

If I didn't already have all of the needed equipment I wouldn't have bothered. Like even things like speaker wire are expensive when you do it right (note right, not daft).

On my 50th I bought a set of JBL ghosts.

The thing is I have an extra amp. So right at the top is the surround pre amp (the 5.1 part). Directly below it with the knobs on is a 60i integrated amp. It was the first one I bought. You can take it apart, swap two jumpers which puts it in power mode. So I did that. Then over time I found a 100p (the very bottom one with the go faster stripes). It's far more powerful and drives the ghosts. That left a spare 60p, which then replaced the 60i. So the 60i literally does nothing I was just too lazy to take it out. Well, I say that, but the whole rack needs to be taken down one shelf at a time (so the record player, line converter and DAB need to come off, then the shelf etc). It's aggro.

I also have my Revel M105s left over. The piano black ones on stands. This used to be my front stage, then I got the ghosts and the classics (blue grilles) went to rear duties.

Those speakers (the M105) RRP at £1799. Right now they are wired up and sat on top of the ghosts (don't have a current pic) and when I fancy soundstage over dynamics I turn off the 100p and fire up the 60i. I still have the stands though (the Atacamas) so yeah. I literally have everything I need.

As for whether it is worth doing? no. Not if you don't have everything else already. A 60i boxed and complete sells for around £300. The speakers I got on clearance for £750 many years ago. As such to match the rest of the rig it would have cost me another grand, plus £100 in speaker wire.

Besides the price I paid was very cheap. The DAB module fetches more than that by itself, given that it is still a very current and useable technology.

Feeds into a pair of Graham Slee Proprius mono blocks which in turn drive a Focal Aria each.

System was (is) a Rega with Elys cartridge into a Graham Slee Phono Amp, I could then divert into either the Headphone amp (Solo) or out directly through the mono blocks. Now with the Majestic, it's Rega, Phono Amp, Majestic to Proprius to Aria speakers but with addition of optical from TV and and can hook up a phone via USB via DAC. To finish off my dream system, I will upgrade the Phono Amp to a Graham Slee Accession M and swap out some of the power supplies to the Linear Enigma versions but they're expensive at nearly €500 a pop. The Proprius monos are rated at 25W (only) but can drive the Focal Arias to damaging levels without distortion. Marvellous things - Each of the individual components have their own separate power brick, chunky things weighing about 400g each but you can hide those so the rest are very wife / partner friendly size wise.
I have a Graham Slee Bitzie USB DAC hanging off my main PC which in turn could also drive a pair of Propri and thats another route in consideration but that might be a touch extravagant. A Fosi audio amp drives a pair of Focal 706s currently.

Have people looked into retrofitting GaN type power supplies for them? Are they too noisy? That's a really nice setup.

Think I mentioned that I needed an emergency PSU to get my Asus Prime 9070XT to boot and picked up a Thermaltake. Brand snobbery kicked in...

Ordinarily I would get a Prime, but could not find one over 850W for love nor money so a Vertex will have to do.

Good choice on the PSU, I got a Seasonic Vertex PX 1000 Platinum a few weeks back and it's been solid.

Nope, Seasonic did update the rating to ATX 3.1 and PCI-e 5 though as it met the new standard without any hardware changes, Just missing the updated cable, I emailed them about getting the updated 12V-2x6 cable so hopefully I'll get an answer.

They sent me a link to purchase a standalone cable - circa €25 so now I'm having fun seeing if the advise / recommend that I do so in an email. Also seeing if they will confirm that I bought an obsolete unit - rock solid unit though. I've had Hydra running a scan on the CPU for the last 8hrs or so, with the previous Thermaltake or EVGA, it would have locked up or rebooted at least twice by now.
