Post A Picture of Your Last Purchase

Oculus Rift S

I know there are plenty of options for VR but it's hard to find them much cheaper than this, plus I didn't want to buy 2nd hand which limits my options. It's hard to beat this and I didn't want to play over wifi have enough issues with steam link at times let alone video streaming into my eyeballs. Obviously it's for half life alyx :P I picked up 2 extention cables as well 2meters long each just in case, but i am going to enjoy it. It'll be my first time playing VR and i'll either fall madly in love with the tech or sell it on quickly lol

The facebook thing isn't much of an issue to me atm maybe in a few years it might be but until then i'll take the risk as is and try an experience i haven't done up until now :D

If it's your first time look into comfort levels of games take it slow to avoid sickness feeling

TBH I like the quest for the no wire, I just setup a router with 6g for the quest 2

Yea plenty of demos and things to try out, more about getting used to the controllers more than anything for me.

New monitor is here thou it looks so darn nice, but was a pain to set up and working out cables and which ports to use ect, but yea my main game looks so smexy now :D

Finally got my new desk setup.

It's a pair of Ikea Alex Drawers with a Karlby top (usual Ikea setup) with a cheap pair of furniture feat from Amazon.

To go with it, I got a new Artic Dual 32" Monitor arm for both monitors, a new Acer 32" monitor (Left one) for my 2nd pc and also to have 2x 32" monitors for work.

New GoXlr Mini mixer and a cheap LED light from Amazon which to my suprise provides a decent amount of light.

New Logitech G Pro Wireless mouse and some new HDMI and Displayport cables.

I also have a little 5" screen which I am going to use for a sensor panel but need a case for it first but that will be going under the Right monitor next to the GoXlr Mini.

Next on my list eventually is a Wireless Keyboard, new Mic, Wireless headphones, Wireless keyboard and mouse (small ones) for the 2nd machine, fund's are a little short and being December it doesn't help, but also what doesn't help is the boiler going "BOOM" so currently no heating or hot water, so have a nice bill next week for a new one to be fitted :(

I know it looks like a lot of cables on the desk but there isn't really, there is the Surgace Go charging lead, Keyboard lead, Webcam lead, Mouse charging lead and Phone charger.

Normally most of the cables are pushed back when not in use to behind the desk in to the cable management system, as you cannot see any of the cables under the desk because of the cable management system which was all off Amazon.

Excuse the bottle of Nail Polish remover, I needed to get some 3M tape of the window behind me but it didn't work, and my tablets will be put on the shelves above the desk, and if you are curious as to why the shelves are not together it's because the wall is not straight and there would be a gap anyway, so I put them slightly apart.

Seeing how my mem/CPU is the weakest link now, ordered better b-die in hopes of better stable memory OC than 3200 CL14.

Not much point in posting a pic, but I did see that my local nerd store had three of my favorite RGB fans in stock, the Fractal Design Prisma AL-12 PWM version. Since those things have been rare, I took the last 3 they had. 2.88mm/H20 of static pressure, and daisy-chain RGB that doesn't need additional software, bazinga.

EDIT: Christmas miracles DO happen! My 5950X has landed!!!! JOY!

Also recently got some Aquacomputer goodies, their new flow / temp meter and some Splitty9's, along with some EK Torque extensions in satin titanium for my "rebuild".

This is a horrendous waste of money, but it's adorable.

Amazon cancelled my subwoofer with no explanation and it took 6 days to get the cash back. Ordered this instead.

And got another set of 4133 16gb RAM used for a decent price.

After 7 years of excellent, faithful service, my RS2E have died. About a week ago I noticed the right side driver was cutting out. I eliminated everything I could (source, sound cards, amps) etc and realised it was actually the headphones. I took the right side apart, cut out the cable past the bit where it stresses and resoldered it. However, it was apparent that it wasn't the cable as pretty quickly it started farting again, then cutting out. It eventually died last night.

I don't have £500 for headphones right now and tbh if I did I have other ventures I would much rather put the cash into now any way. After tons of research it seems this is the bit that costs you £300 more on RS2E.

The drivers on the RS2E are matched identically, where as on lower end models they are matched to within a certain DB level. However, the SR80E are matched to within .1 DB any way, so you would need to be superman to tell. The drivers are all the same, so are the head bands, wires etc. Looking at my headband assembly? yeah, boak.

That isn't a shadow. I wore them religiously 12 hours a day for 7 years. The rest of the plastics are marked, the silver L and R have pretty much worn off completely and so on.

Looked up replacement part prices. £100 for drivers, £40 for cable, £40 for head band etc. I got an entire pair for £88. I can live with that.

Eh ended up at 3856 CL17-17-17-39 2T, I guess I could tighten timings somewhat, but done adjusting sticks for today. Couldn't get even 4000 CL19 to boot in any form. Maybe dog of a CPU, or maybe my original mobo (Z370-F) did a number on IO/SA since it defaulted to 1.4V :D

My RAM was due to come today. To my mother's. I didn't realise it was a bank holiday yesterday *sigh*

Good thing is I live about 200m from the post depot. Like, at home. So I can go get it tomorrow.

My cans came. Just as I had woken up, so the poor DPD driver was greeted by me dressed as Yoda lmao.

I cleaned up the mahogany cups yesterday and repainted the grills with gloss black...

So I will run them in later and test them, then do the swap over the next few days.

looz - is that on Intel? Deffo work on the timings man. You should get insane timings on that RAM. Also you can do the memory bench in AIDA64 to see how much you are getting :)

I think 3800 CL16 is doable, but 3600 CL15 was unstable - though I did bump system agent voltage after testing 3600 CL15 without returning to retest. I'm pretty done with memory tinkering for today at this point.

Nice pair of Grados, they're a real icon. Never had the opportunity to test any of their headphones, though.

Don't buy a pair of Grado and expect them to fulfil your every need. However, of the 20 or so pairs of headphones I have bought they (and the BD T5P) are the only ones that remain.

When it comes to classical, jazz and even live rock the Grado are unbeatable. The sound stage on them is the best I have ever heard on any headphone and gaming too is actually superb. Because of the bigger sound stage it's far easier to tell how close someone is to you by their footsteps in PUBG for example. I also don't jump out of my chair when I get a sudden headshot, nor when one of my team mates coughs.

I like the closed in sound of the T5P very much also, but not for everything. They thump much harder and are much better with rap and stuff like that but when it comes to really hearing someone sing the Grado are the best I have had.

The rebuild was pretty cheap. I snagged those SR80E in the Jan sales for £88. Just a set of drivers for Grado are £100, and my head band was disgusting being real leather. The one on the 80s is not leather, but I think that will be much better suited to my bald head tbh.

But yeah, even if you grab a pair of the 60E for £70 or so and put on the GS pads (I got mine from China for pennies)

BF0DPgm.jpg

Then you will love them. Just make sure you get those big cups, as Grado pain is a thing. Their factory pads are awful.

To be honest I'm not in the market for new headphones - I quite enjoy the setup I have. But seeing how well-regarded Grados are, I'd love to have a listen.

On the other hand maybe this is the point I should start refusing to listen to anything new since I mostly feel limited by source material with my 4xx - but I know there are better products out there :) Thanks for the advice, though!

Rebuild is done.

So I treated myself to new pads

And one of these so that I no longer just chuck them on the desk with tools and keys etc.

Fixed.

I don't get OCD that badly any more (pills, yay) but man that was annoying me. Everything else in that entire bloody corner lights up blue.
