Post A Picture of Your Last Purchase

If it's roughly on par with a 1080 Ti then I'll wait for the 2080 Ti, No point getting something that is roughly the same as I have now.

No, I mean myself. Not the grand 'I would' but the singular. Because I have a GTX 1080 that's pretty well overclocked, I think I'd need either a low price point or a substantial boost in performance to warrant an upgrade. Obviously for you it definitely makes no sense if the 2080 is only a marginal improvement in performance per dollar.

Got these today for £30 of Amazon they are really comfortable to wear. Now to hear the sound stage of them. They do have good reviews on Headfi

I put down a deposit on my first ever car. It's a 2012 VW Up with 4k miles in pristine condition. 75bhp version. I got a great price for it, but it's a very basic model and I'm starting to wish I had splurged another grand for a more upmarket model. I might see if I can add some flourishes to it down the line like alloy wheels and a rear spoiler.

The moment you put a spoiler on that thing, you will never sell it for its proper value.

Customised cars are difficult to sell unless you can return it to its previous state. Your taste will differ to someone else who might think a spoiler is "garish". If you do sell it once custom its often for a fraction of the value its actually worth.

I used to buy and sell cars while working as a part time MOT mechanic before I joined the air force. In most cases, I only profited from custom cars, when I removed the custom mods and made it stock again.

Even the official spoiler that comes with the higher up models like the GTI?

TBH unless you are a boy racer or plan on having a family you could well just use that car until it's knackered. You have to drive it, make it how you like it and to heck with every one else :) same philosophy I use when building bikes.

Well, I don't know if I'll be keeping the car for more than two or three years. It's a small engine and a small car. The main reason for going for something so small is that it is easy to drive and cheap to run—insurance in Ireland is ridiculously expensive. It's a car that will hold its resale value reasonably well as people will always want a cheap compact car to bomb around in.

Well there is that and the cost of repairs. Which will also be cheaper. Unless you're a Lewis Hamilton wannabe and are not in a big hurry it would do you.

Oh yeah latest purchase.. My birthday lunch. Fish and chips with bread and butter and mushy peas, with a side salad and then banana split. I didn't even have to pay :D

It's more the physical size and the lack of features that hold me back from keeping the VW for any serious length of time. It's peppy enough for me, but three doors is limiting and it doesn't have air conditioning. A part of me thinks I should have spent an extra grand or two and got a higher specification model that was newer and kept the car for longer. But you can never predict the future. All you can do is plan as well as possible and make a decision.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I only really wanted the 75bhp version and alloys. I can add bluetooth connectivity—and even if I decided not to because it was garish or inconvenient, I'm really not a socialite and don't receive or make phone calls very often—I can use a 12v adaptor to charge my phone on the go, I can use the AUX in to play music (having a cable lying across the dash isn't attractive but it'll do), and I don't need a false floor in the boot, folding mirrors, or anything fancy like that. Down the line, though, I want to have these things. For now I'm just going to keep my eye out for used alloys at a good price.

Same. I put £20 on my Three sim 18 months ago and have £12 left. I don't even know my own number lol I've had it four years.

It never used to be like that. All my own choice as I figured out who I was and learned my limitations.

Spec is king IMO. That's what holds the value and there's nothing you can do once you have a low spec without potentially devaluating it further.
