EVGA is really good, The Classified when I had it was an immense card although it was loud compared to the Matrix I have now.

A fanboy is someone who sticks up for a company no matter how bad the products are or what terrible decisions they make.

I will never defend a company as there is nothing it it for me, I buy said products because I like brand consistency where possible.

Thanks for the clarification! :)

^This.

There's also a flipside to that which is the anti-fanboy (or troll I guess) which is someone that will hate on a company no matter how good the products are or business decisions.

They are both as bad as each other. We get that with Ford versus Holden (GM & Opel/Vauxhall collaboration) and it happens in all walks of life and all interests. Look at football fans in full kit or we go to our local shopping centre and bogans (chavs I guess you'd call them) are in their Holden Racing Team jacket with HRT hat and HRT polo shirts and if they could get them there'd be HRT trackpants as well. I doubt they're sponsored...

I like matching components where I can but yeah there's a massive difference between liking and recommending a brand or product line to blind obsession either way (love or hate)

Anyways. As long as you like the products you don't need to justify it to anyone.

Yeah i could buy a Matrix and it could be loud too and the EVGA could be quiet, It just luck of the draw dude.
I have heard that ASUS has a habit of using the same cooler and just throwing it on to everything yes i'm sure the other companies do it but i've only heard of ASUS doing it.

I get called an AMD fanboy because I speak out against Nvidia's terrible business practices..
So that should be included in that list too:p

I must be an AMD fanboy then as I don't like Nvidia's business practices either ^_^

  • Fanboi if you spruik your own favourite regardless of quality and function.
  • Troll if you hate on anothers products regardless of quality and function.
Refuse to endorse a particular company because of a principal? Well that's just choice. Unless you run down every product because of some unrelated thing.

Hahaha Collingwood is more of a cult than a fanbase. There's no explaining that crazy. (trigger warning - 'trolling')

Yep an AMD fanboy using a 980ti:p
Or TX.. I honestly lost track of what you are using long ago lol

not sure what spruik means... I googled it and got nothing so not entirely sure what you were trying to say there:confused:
but anyway the Nvidia cards aren't the problem, it's the company selling them and personally I won't buy there products because of it. Doesn't mean I haven't recommended them before though. It's just hard to recommend them when the only clear winner Nvidia currently have over AMD is in the high end market (980ti vs FX) but even then lately it seems the FX has been favoured in recent games from WYP's testing. Which means either A)really getting drivers right, or B) companies are doing better at optimizing for both camps. AMD just fall short in the big main AAA's(like GTA V). but overall it's close(espeically 2k/4k), just Nvidia slightly win out. But yeah that's just my personal thoughts on it. I'd still say i'm unbiased but my "special" tag would say otherwise:p

Spruiking is talking up and advertising like those people outside shops on the PA system telling you to come in they have all these bargains and the like.

You got it exactly right tho - you don't bag out the (NVidia) cards or the products but you don't support the company because that's your choice based on numerous reasons. Same as KOOS doesn't go much on Asetek because of how they sue everyone. He's not saying (well not that I've seen) that the Aseteks are garbage products but he'll just go elsewhere.

I changed my stance on Asetek cause of the suing where i think they are trying to kill off other AIO coolers and that is why i will never buy another Asetek branded AIO again.

I have no issues with CoolIt.

Exactly on point:)

After 5 years, it was time for a new monitor, got the Asus MG297Q freesync monitor, and yeh i do have a nvidia gpu but i dont care for gsync or freesync, i wanted a high refresh rate IPS, and this one certainly delivers.

Welcome to the Non-sync club :D. I went down exactly the same route with you and I've really enjoyed my 279Q thus far. Great bang for buck monitor, especially compared to the Gsync equivalent..

Well, mine isn't exactly a purchase, but I did get a very nice surprise in the mail this morning from EVGA. I RMA'd my GTX 780 after having some voltage issues, and despite the fact that I purchased that card second hand from eBay, EVGA happily honoured the remaining warranty, which in turn netted me this little beauty:

I can safely say I am a VERY happy man, and incredibly pleased with the service I've gotten from EVGA. Start to finish the whole process took 4 days. which is pretty stunning however you look at it.
