Post A Picture of Your Last Purchase

I'm not currently playing competitive FPS or something like that...

A better quality image ( and low color shift ) could be a great improvement in many other games

And BTW high refresh rate gets more useful in competitive multiplayer games if you already have a good connection, and italian "broadband" sucks

p.s.: driving a 4K monitor over 60 FPS is going to be quite difficult with a single card at least until the end of 2015, maybe 2016

I suppose it depends a lot on the type of games you play. I pretty much play MP games exclusively, mainly competitive and not the slow type. Also racing games, which benefit a lot from 144hz. I'd probably prefer IPS for RPG games as well, even though even in those games high refresh rate adds a lot to the experience.

I think it all comes down to personal tastes, Some people get a raging boner over 144hz monitors and you mention anything else and it's like you just insulted their mother and crapped on their head.

For fast paced multiplayer shooters I can see it having maybe a bit of use and slightly smoother but it's very highly over exaggerated.

Nope, definitely not over exaggerated. I can't even play games like Quake on 60hz anymore, it's like going back to 30fps once you are used to 60fps.
I have a mechanical keyboard, which was a nice improvement over membranes, i have a good audio setup which is definitely better than any gaming headset, still i'd rather give up both of those than having to go back to 60hz. The best investment i've made in years.
Ask any quaker/competitive FPS player, they all hold 144/120hz in far higher regard than anything else.
It's just a different level of attention to detail i guess, lots of people are cool with playing games at 30fps and see no difference to 60fps, i doubt anyone on this forum would agree with that.

It's to do with personal taste, I had an Asus 144Hz monitor and yes the picture was a bit smoother but meh, Wasn't anything special, But then again I never really play competitive FPS games so I can see the benefit for those types of twitch shooter scenarios.

A lot of the time though it just comes down to personal taste :)

right, let me just message neeple

I wreck that nerd in CPM, it's all the 144hz, i swear.

Comes down to application. I don't know how much of a difference it makes in games like Crysis with all the motion blur crap.

How is it? What do you use it for?
I know what shaun-b would do with all that bandwith ;)
Im still rocking 8 down and 0.8 up :D

I use it for ALL OF THE THINGS. :)

Never played CS competitively. Played a couple of matches with friends and ended up as double AK i think.
Until matchmaking uses 128tick and they sort out the netcode i won't consider CS:GO a competitive game. What a mess that game is.

My current mx-2 is almost empty. This is my 3rd time in a row that i bought Arctic MX-2. It's cheap (£3.09 + free delivery for 4 grams !) and has very good performance.

edit: 8g is £4, i should of bought that instead ...

@ Feronix,

I will stay with my Z77 platform and naked 3770K i think, since upgrading to Z97 doesnt really make sense to me performance wise. For the gpu i am not decided yet.
A nice little loop will also take place inside.

Like the guitars, I see one with the Floyd Rose is an Ibanez. What's the other?

As for purchases, I just bought one of these Silverstone cases for my HTPC, it's high time I gave it the proper HTPC treatment and got it in under the TV, since it's in one of these at the minute:

Some die hard fps gamers still prefer CRT over 144hz for obvious reasons.

I have noticed alot of crap bugs (especially skyrim and AC3/4) where games bug out over 60hz. E.g. furniture in houses bouncing like pinball endless or horse and carriage in AC3 disappearing or getting pathing issues.

I still won't go back to 60hz since im more FPS and racing sim preferred anyway.
