Yeah €1400 for the swift is seriously not worth it.

It costs €883.39 / £699.99 in the UK.

I just went through all of the good german shops, mindfactory nope, caseking nope, the only other shop that has the monitor is alternate, for 800 euros. They are usually more expensive, but they are also always the first to have stuff in stock.

/edit
Scratch that, they have it listed, but not in stock.

It's not like i'm going to get one anyways. Maybe in two years when 1440p becomes the standard.

1440p will never become "standard"... otherwise there would have been 1440p TVs since this resolution was introduced

The next standard is 4K, which will overcome 1080p fairly soon ( I'd say 2016 or 2017 )

Obviously I mean for everything, not just gaming, but for example I'm planning to upgrade directly from 1080p to 4K ( possibly IPS ).

Moreover, 1440p monitors have been on the market for years and their price never really dropped: look at 4K displays now, you can find some at ~600€ ( 60 Hz ) while they were at least 10 times more expensive 2-3 years ago

It will take years for 4k to get to 144hz, 1440p would be a viable step for high refresh monitors.

I was talking about resolution standard only, not about higher refresh rates

Never tried a 120hz or more monitor, but I'd prefer a 60 Hz IPS 4k rather than 120+Hz tn 1440p...

just got me a bargain from the bay of E, £32 inc delivery

Jebus, i knew the thing was a big bloater, but my god, its huge, about the same size as a blue whales johnson.

Now just have to get the step daughter to get the guitar out, shes really good, but has no confidence, thought if i can record her playing and "get it out there" it might bring her out of her shell.

How would you know if you didn't try yet? You can't read about what 144hz is like. To me 144hz is to 60hz what 60fps is to 30fps. I wouldn't give that up for any res in the world.

Higher refresh is ok but to be honest it's only really popular with the twitch shooter players, I've had a 144Hz and it felt a little bit smoother but nothing to get excited over, But each to their own :)

well, that didn't take long

I'm not currently playing competitive FPS or something like that...

A better quality image ( and low color shift ) could be a great improvement in many other games

And BTW high refresh rate gets more useful in competitive multiplayer games if you already have a good connection, and italian "broadband" sucks

p.s.: driving a 4K monitor over 60 FPS is going to be quite difficult with a single card at least until the end of 2015, maybe 2016

As someone who plays a variety of games, I have to say refresh rate> resolution for most games. Hardly any games have UHD textures at the mo'.

Personally I'm going to get both when a non gsync 144hz 1440p monitor is released ^_^
