Intro
Working in an electronics store to give me some pocket money while at uni has its ups and downs, The main down is seeing things and wondering if you need it ... needless to say i "needed" alot of things i probably did not need, I did want a Blu-Ray drive for my pc to play films while writing coursework out and to have my headphones on to not disturb the land lord at 3am.
The downside to having an optical bay i found was it ruined the look of some cases both in and out, so i thought hmm what about an external drive.
Specs
mLFJvCH.jpg

Connects via USB 2.0 for data and for power, the cable is USB A to USB A Mini, which might need extending if you plan to put it more than 50cm away from the nearest port.
Physically its not much bigger than 3 CD cases stacked on top of each other

Additional software

To read disks is one thing to play movies etc you will need software, This unit comes with software from cyber link to read DVD's and BL disks it will also play films in 3d depending on the type of display you have i have tested Drive Angry on an active stereoscopic display and was very impressed with it running at 24 FPS.
Extra information.
The drive can also be used as a blu-ray player for TVs with a usb port as an AV player, which is an added bonus.
Also i have tested the drive upside down and works well, so if your thinking of getting this then putting it under the desk hidden so you can access it at anytime this is an option too
Needs XP SP2 onwards to run

Pricing

This drive was bought for £99.99 but has been seen on the net with offers and such for around £70.

Further information
Downside apart from cost is if you use Cyber link It messes with the volume and is only affected by master control. Other than that i'm more than happy with this little unit.

And here is it playing "Highlander" while i was floating on the forums

This isnt finished right?

until i can go to work on sat, i cant do burn tests. which is the next part i was going to add, along with pics and details how it works on a TV. the only i know im not going to be able to test is if it will play 48fps movies... such as the hobbit was displayed. Im hunting for it as we speak. But i just wanted to show how i would review.

Other than that unless i can buy other drives and do a comparison between published results and actual write speeds and read speeds. another thing was im not sure how in depth most readers are going to be, like explaining CAV and CLV... its not hard but would many people really want to know

Think the idea is to put it up finished or say its not mate.... lol.

than that i'm more than happy with this little unit.

not sure you should be putting a quote like that at the end of it if its not finished yet :/

ok i just wanted you to see the style rather than say i took to long as thats what i took from what you said earlier.
i can remove this thread if you like and will post a finished one sunday evening, due to work on sat ill do the testing sat night and put up the finished review sunday?
And i thought the end piece just showed it in situe maybe i could of ended a little better i just wanted to show it can be played while using a second display.
One other thing i need to ask with the graphs i typed them up on word and screen dumped them on here is that ok?
or is there another way you would like them
