Please Help Me With Errors

Morning everyone,

Okay I'm running into trouble with my rig, to the point were it's not usable as it's becoming more frequent that I get these errors, I got one just as I was about to install the new GPU drivers which was lucky I suppose, but also got them whilst installing Windows updates and now my mouse won't work! The mouse did seem to be getting a bit stuck beforehand which was odd but a change of batteries didn't help.

The first error I get is driver_irql_not_less_or_equal and this is the page for it:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff560244(v=vs.85).aspx

What do I do? I can see it's to do with memory which may also why sometimes on startup I get some sort of memory execution failed message but you can simply press 'close' on that one.

The second error I'm getting is this one if I remember correctly:
kernel_security_check_failure

and the page for it is here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/jj569891(v=vs.85).aspx

Any help is really appreciated!

The first error you've gotten I also use to get when I had a faulty Ethernet port so I just RMA'd my board and it all was fine.

The second error I have no clue about sorry bud.

Urgh PC's. When you RMA'd your board did you use all the same components?

Sure did

On a side note have you run memtest ?

Nope, will that show up and errors? I wonder why I get these all of a sudden, nothing ever changes either, it barely gets used so the only difference is new Windows updates go on when I do use it. It doesn't make sense why the mouse doesn't work either, maybe it is the board.

Do you have an old mechanical drive to load up windows on just to be sure if it's the board or your OCZ

I think I have an Hitachi Deskstar lying around from years ago, it's got Windows Vista or Windows 7 on it, can I just connect it, and run the Windows 8 USB and format it as normal?

irq_not_less_or_Equal can be drivers.. do you have any devices in device manager without drivers?

Have you put on all the proper mobo/chipset and all that other stuff drivers on?

It can also be memory/storage error

Check S.M.A.R.T. status of the drive in question and do a full memtest.

try disabling things on the motherboard that you don't need.

e.g. go into bios and physically turn them off if you can (floppy drive options, extra usb, onboard sound if you don't use it, bluetooth, the works).

irq stuff can be a royal pain in the ass to solve but it's usually a case of turning shit off that you don't use/need so it doesn't get an IRQ conflict.

To be honest SuB the only board driver I installed was the Killer one for the Ethernet, I didn't touch the other gear, as I presumed they'd just work?

I'll try the memtest and check the SSD's, I'll have a look in the BIOS to see if there is anything, there isn't anything in device manager that hasn't got drivers, it was just the Ethernet port when I first built it then I remembered to get the drivers from the website.

Cheers for the response lads. Just a real pain in the arse it is, it has happened on occasions and I just put it down to a bad moment but this weekend it was like every 30mins so in the end I just turned it off.

One thing though, what the heck happened to my mouse? It's only your basic Gigabyte basic combo for now, just plug the little USB dongle into the back, and away you go, changed out the batteries, and turned it off and on again, tried the connect button. The lights are lit up but nothing...the thing is, when I was installing Windows updates one was for USB mice...oh bollocks, it could of shut down on installing that.

This is the mouse and keyboard, just going to have a look to see if there are any known issues with it.

Edit: Actually, I can try the mouse in my laptop, if it doesn't work with that then it must be broken.

Edit: Something just made me remember a couple of times a while ago, I've had that sound in Windows like you've plugged in a USB device, when I haven't. Could this be related?

Time to invest in some proper peripherals dude...

Haha I know, I got them when I got the last components for my rig and just wanted to get it up and running, I nearly got a Razer mouse last week but decided no do some research first. Ahhh the joy of PC's.

Roccat mouse, any half-decent name mechanical keyboard.. problem solved :P

Unsure on keyboards, want to test the different switches really but that's probably going to be to difficult, so I'll probably go for the Cherry MX Red as they are the most popular.

Shall try the mouse and keyboard on the laptop tonight and if it doesn't work then I think the first stage is to get new ones, and then look into the rig. Really don't want to update the chipset drivers though dude because if my rig cuts out mid installation, more problems.

I have reds in mine, I (personally) find those best for gaming due to the speed, don't be put off if you screw up a lot to begin with, you soon learn.

I've learnt one thing, possibly don't buy a Gigabyte board again lol. I had one many years ago before the Asus P5B and had issues.

Well the mouse works fine with the laptop, so that means its the rig!

Okay so I tidied my cables up further the other day whlist on holiday and I've disconnected all the USB cables connected to the motherboard that I don't use anyway such as the case front panel USB's, the CorsairLink connection going from the pump to the motherboard.

Just turned the rig back on and it powered on and then back off, tried again and it did the same so I unplugged the rig and checked the cables to make sure it is all secure, seemed it but it powered on fine then...? :S Had that HDMI trouble at first but one positive, the mouse now works...hmm.
