I would recommend buyng the cheapest bs4 you can buy and then put in a bigger HDD or even an SSD inside. With the stock one you only get about 380GB of stoage as the OS takes up quite a bit.

Plus the upside is you no longer have to deal with a 5400rpm HDD, a 7200rpm would make a big difference. Could even put a SSHD drive in their. If you play the same game over and over it will just speed up the load times.

Don't bother with broken ps3s. They're not like Xboxes to fix and can cost quite a bit to repair as the parts are a pain to get in some cases.

Yeah, asking the owner for some characteristiscs first. If it's worth doing, I'll buy it, otherwise I'll just buy a working one :)

sony have said to use ssds or 5400 rpms as there may be extra heat produced by a 7200 may be too much for the system to handle

You could always leave off the top cap that the hard drive is under to allow the heat to escape naturally. Would actually keep the system more cool even if you didn't upgrade the harddrive.

I'd stick an SSD in there if I was going to bother upgrading it to be honest, or maybe an SSHD if you need much more storage.

You do in a console. Ghosts takes up like 40GB and it uses the lowest the HD textures known to man lol

With only 380GB of storage 40GB for every game equates to having only 9 games.

I have a PS3 mainly because its still one of the best bluray players around. No care for the games. But Last of us does interest me.

I was going t sell my old PS3 about a year and a half ago, then I went to uni and discovered fast internet and Netflix. PS3 has been my living room streamer/ Blu ray player ever since. Glad i still had it for the last of us :)

Never actually got a platinum on a PS3 game, either the game was not worth the extra hours for the last 2 or 3 trophies or like in Resistance 2 the online multiplayer died out way too fast (only had one trophy left!!!).

I use mine mainly for netflix, I would be lost without it. I have only platted one game and that was Dead Space 2. My last trophy I needed was Hard to the Core. Only took me 3 months to get it.

Finally picked up and loving GTA V again, I'm at 40% complete now, what percentage does it tend to be when you've completed the campaign/story?

Mine was roughly 70% and I didn't do many side things like hobbies etc. Such a good game :)
