Picking a Monitor

Hi all,

i need some help with choosing a monitor or monitors for my new rig that i am hoping to build for gaming and video editing
My initial plan was to run 3 24" monitors but the more i look the more i find how expensive a good monitor is and that most games do not support running on three monitors.
I do prefer three monitors over a single one as i am looking into doing some video editing etc and need the realestate.

I am also going to be running SLI with 2xGigabyte AORUS GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Waterforce Xtreme Edition, i have been adviced by some people in the "know" that i should run just a single Acer Predator X34 Curved 34in G-Sync IPS Gaming Monitor.

Any advice would be appreciated as running a single 34" monitor in sli seems a little over kill?

Well depending on the game, a single 1080 Ti may struggle to push that many pixels. Especially consider what graphics settings you set and the refresh rate of the monitor.

Personallt I’d stay away from both the Acer Predator X34 and ASUS PG348, this is just my own experience on this. I’ve tried 3 samples of both monitors and they all had massive backlight bleeding. So much that when watching Youtube videos and movies which isn’t in the native 21:9 aspect ratio, it was unbearable due to the bleeding on the edges.

I now personally have the Acer Predator Z35P, which is an VA panel and not IPS. But I didn’t notice all that much difference between them in colour quality. Although it has a lot less bleed than the flagship monitors.

Personally I think you’ll be fine with just a single widescreen monitor, rather than 3. You also loose the headache with multi monitor setups etc. As meanwhile it’s rather easy, you simply don’t need to worry or think about it with a single monitor.

Hope this helps :)
