Hi guys, just wanting to ask the question of would i see any benifit in getting a seperate card for physx? i have just upgraded to the GTX 570 Superclocked for my main rig and was thinking about throwing my old 5770 along with my Phenom 965. would i see the benifit of say a 9800gt?

Dont bother. All it will do is add nice PhysX effects. But your overall FPS will drop. Same if you had an Nvidia Card with a dedicated PhysX card, no improvement.

No, I have used one before and all it did was increase my temps, the FPS or specific details you will see taking a GTX 570 and adding a physX card is pretty much non existent.

P.S. I have tested this with a GTX 570 and 9800 gtx+ so its almost the exact situation you are in.

So it's better to just sell the 9800gt instead of using it as a PhysX card? I have a 560GTX Ti and I was going to use my 9800gt as a PhysX card...

Sorry for threadjacking!

Sell it bro, and buy a nice CPU cooler.

Ill have you know my cooler is very nice

Didn't somebody (on another site) do an extensive test where it was deemed unecessary to have another card for Physx if you got anything over a 260 ? Seems to ring a bell.

Yeah it was Linus from Linus/NCIX techtips, I think the video has been taken down.

To the OP, its not worth it, extra heat, extra power needed, and the 9800 could be a bottleneck in some situations because it can't keep pace with the 570.

Which can lead to lower fps. Anyway you should be good with PhysX on high in basically every game with a 570.
