Photo editing software

what photo editing software do you guys use for use with your dslr (thats if you do use one)

ive just got myself a dslr and am looking to get/try some photo editing software thats not to hard to use but something that gives good results
 
Photoshop, if you're serious about it tbh.

You can sign up to a monthly thing with them now instead of bombing out thousands for a box. And you will have access to lightroom and all the other stuff available.

If you have access to a mac, aperture is a pretty good starting out platform with very easy to use filters/touch ups 16-bit/raw stuff etc.
 
If you want to learn photoshop or just use it once in a while you can download CS2 for free from the adobe website. It's old but still more than good enough for most people.

this info is incorrect.
only those with a legit key & account can download and use it legally :(

Really? Cause it's not mentioned on the page and they provide the software + serial which works. I thought it was a smart move on getting you hooked in the hope you would buy a newer version later instead of using a free alternative like GIMP, Paint.net, etc...

it is, when you realise that cs2 is old hat these days and doesn't support a lot of newer operating systems.. and is no longer 'supported' you will likely buy cs6.. but it's still not technically legal to download.
 
without a doubt photoshop.

i use windows 7 64 bit and i use PS for making posters, graphic design and editing RAW.

To be honest with you i have Photoshop 7 and CS5. i used to use PS7 right up until about 6 months ago, then i ran them both and only now do i use CS5 solely. PS7 is cheap, runs on win7 (ok) and can do most of the things that CS5 can except 3D and the more intellegent stuff. if you want to learn how to do things use PS7.

i learnt lots of things in PS7 that have now been replaced with a click of a button in CS5.

so CS5/6 if you have the money PS7 is you want a taste and want to learn it without all the unnecessary add ons. (not satying they are not useful but learn the long way first)
