Phenom2 X4 960T voltage query

Hello!

I recently bought this cpu replacing a 720, and seems nice and cool.

But there's voltage problem. Its default 1.475V when turbo boost enabled. With cool&quiet auto Everest shows me 1.3-1.5V

If I disable turbo boost its 1.35V default and with cool&quiet auto Everest shows me 1.3V... Never below that. Why can't go 1.0V or 1.1V ??

i have the same cpu with this same problem, i upgraded from a P2 x4 945 due to it being a none BE, i have googled around and havnt really found a solution, tho reading this thread im leaning in the way of my motherboard being to old to properly support the cpu.

my motherboard is a gigabyte GA-890XA-UD3, bios version FC

even the later bios version was release before the release of this cpu i believe.

Well, things ate like this-->

- I have a Sempron 140 with Vcore scale 0.825-1.35V and c&q goes it down to 1.0V when idle.

- I had a Phenom2 x3 720 with Vcore scale 0.85-1.425 (or 1.15 - 1.425 as cpu-world.com says, I dont know which is corrrect) and c&q goes it down to 1.1V when idle.

- And now I have a phenom2 x4 960T with a Vcore scale 0.825-1.4 and c&q goes it nowhere down... I always see it at 1.3V(via Everest). Is this normal or strange?

Is this Battlefield3 good for multi gaming? I use to play only MOHAA because I havent find any better game so far. What about cheaters? (Mohaa is full of cheaters) I mean, can we be sure that profile scores like these in your signature are real?

Its like you were reading my mind when you made this thread lol..

I have the same chip and it also won't drop the cpu volts with CnQ enabled. If our cpu's manufacture date and stepping codes do not match, then it must have something to do with the way they lock 2 of the 6 cores. Or a side effect, there of.

I was about to RMA it but changed my mind because I almost never use CnQ and have plenty of time left with the warranty.

The other thing I noticed were the abnormally low core temps. Here is my thread with some helpful but mostly vague responses.

most likely a side affect of the unlocking. Will always need more juice to keep more cores stable.

Thats what I thought and why I ran it as a stock quad, just to be sure. I also tried a fresh install of windows with C1E enabled and the volts stayed at the stock 1.3v.

Also, my previous cpu was an Athlon II x4 630. CnQ worked just fine with and without the unlocked lv3 cache and it did not affect my 3.375ghz OC.

Since the cpu speed does drop with CnQ enabled, then maybe the volts are being lowered but a reporting error is keeping the OS in the dark. Just guessing lol..
