Phantom 630 or Corsair 750D?

No, I have not purchased the 60mm rad yet, and to be honest, I was planning on purchasing the 60mm thick rad for the front of whatever case I get anyways, so I was going to use that as a dry run to check the fitting in the roof of the Phantom in any case.

In regards to your view that the Phantom, for me, seems like a really good fit; I can't agree more, which is why I was leaning that way anyway. And yes, I agree external radiator mounting is just a bad idea, particularly in these cases, where you have so much internal room to mount pretty close to as much radiators as you could need. For the record, the reason the external rad support was a PRO for the Obsidian is that it is actually covered off with steel, yet still available to the maniacs that might want to use it. I'm so TIRED of seeing grommeted holes back there - which I would never use!

You ask the question about size being an issue for me, and the fact is, I DO have a very limited space in which I can place the case. m-ATX is out of the question however, because I have an E-ATX motherboard already (and do NOT want to replace it). So, yes, the Obsidian is still an appealing choice to me. But I am still >90% certain that I will get the Phantom 630. The only REAL deal breaker on this case for me personally, is the drive sleds being flimsy. I *do* travel a bit, and taking my mechanical drive out of the chassis each time I move it, will wear thin fairly quickly I think. The obsidian though, has more going against it than for it overall for me however.

What about getting a 5.25" > 3.5" adaptor like the Scythe Bay Rafter and put your HDD in your bottom 5.25" bay? Would leave plenty of room for a rad in the roof I think. You can get those adaptors in sorts and different materials.

Well if the question is "Will it fit in my room?" then you'll have to measure. If it will fit but 'leave you with less room' then that's really not going to make that much of a difference. Both cases are pretty big either way.

Fair enough on the eATX board. Would not want to replace that either.

Yes, this is one of the options that I have been throwing around in the event that I get this case. Would mean trading off somewhere else though.

I think that a better option (for me anyway) would be to actually mod the drive carrier. Make a replacement carrier out of steel and rubber and bolt that sucker in place. I mean, it's not like I take the mechanical drive out very often.

Go with fractal design arc mini R2 if you only need a 360 and 240 radiator support and small case.

That doesn't support a 360mm rad out of of the box though. The third 120mm fan position isn't off-centre and the ODD cage would be in the way.

All you have to do is remove the optical drive mount with a screw driver, 5 minutes work at the most.

The local distributor told me that the 750D won't be available before 15th Jan 2014, and it will cost me about US $275 including tax etc. Also, there's no room under the desk to fit either the Phantom 630 or the Switch 810. Even the Phantom 530 is out of stock and won't be available before next year. No news of the Source 530. The CM 690III doesn't have rubber grommets for cable management and no 360mm rad support on top, no hole under board tray etc. The Cosmos SE seems like joke - pricier than Trooper/Stryker/P630 etc and tighter than an rat's arse. I'm so stuck :(

What about the Corsair Air 540? It fits a 360mm rad in the front and isn't tall at all (bit wide though). Height-wise this should go under your desk without a problem.

Bitfenix Shinobi XL also supports watercooling, but it might be too tall.
Edit; NZXT H230?

This is exactly what I have room for:
57cm (height)
60cm (depth)
30cm (width)
The 540 wouldn't fit at all.
Even if it did, the window would be a total waste. I think that case should be ON the desk rather than under it. I won't have room for a chasis on the desk with two monitors and other things.

Anyway, I contacted Cooler Master about the missing rubber grommets on the CM 690III, and this is what they replied:
"Yes shipments in Mid-December should mostly already have the rubber grommets but if you purchase a case and does not have the rubber grommets and thumb screws we will be able to ship them directly to you.

What we need from you is the serial number on the back of the case, a copy of your purchase invoice, and also you full contact information (full name, address with ZIP/Postal code, and contact number). "
So, I think I will get this one and the Swiftech H220 rather than the H320. I am really not sure my 4670K will be able to do more than 4.2GHz at acceptable voltages. (I tried using the stock Intel cooler, and it seems temps aren't the only problem. Probably the frequencies aren't there at all). I'm not willing to use any more than 1.3V for regular use. So, if after trying with the H220 I find some pleasant surprises, I"ll have the option to put another thick rad down the road, particularly if I manage to get my hands on some gpu block (for the gpu I don't have yet).

The H220 is currently out of stock though :banghead:

I personally hate it when people add stuff to the H220 - it looks plain wrong.

Full custom is the way to go after AIO IMHO not confuse things further by adding stuff

It is the ONLY option I have for "expansion". Full custom stuff have to be imported for 3 times the price. And I wouldn't mind getting one of those "closed loop" AIO Asetek-based units if those were as good as the H220 and were not "use and throw". I would definitely go full custom if I had access to those here at the prices YOU get. :)

Pretty sure this thing was made together with Swiftech and it looks a *lot* like an H220:

Yes, CM just replaced the fans with their own and increased the rpm on the pump. That one's not available yet.
