Tbh i think they show a good representation of some of the more extreme people and sheldons character is a very good representation of a few disorders
i am one of the more extreme people, what they show is the what the "normal" people think what a "geek" looks and acts like. i know nobody that acts that way, intelligent people are able to communicate adequately and don't act like autistic douchebags. it's just a retarded culture clash of casual video games, science and pseudo highly developed language, dumbed down so that everyone who watches it feels intelligent.
but everyone has different opinions, if you like the show that's fine. i guess that show just doesnt meet up with my sense of humor at all.

sheldon is not unaverage, sheldon is autistic. also playing super mario doesnt make anyone unaverage. i don't know the episode, but i doubt sheldon was talking about anything the average pc user can't understand, the whole show isn't made for intelligent people.

i work in maplin and you have no idea how many people shout at me when i say with out a hub as far as im aware you cant just get a firewire cable and have a usb head on it, due to the speed and cable amounts inside.

they don't mention it, but he must be. nobody is that socially awkward, no matter how "unaverage" you are. i consider myself a social outsider because i don't like to interact with most people, i feel like they are very close to retardation, still i don't act around people like him. the real intelligent person can explain something really difficult so easy that nearly everyone understands it, while sheldon just behaves like a douchebag. the show bases on "hue i have heard usb some time, hue he talks weird so he must be intelligent, i like super mario as well, i can relate" pretty much a hipsters wet dream. no wonder kids these days make fun of people for being good at school, they are just "geeks" to them. the word geek should be banned.

im proud to be a geek
and the problem is im at uni and trust me the hyper intelligent sometimes suck when it comes to explaining things lol.
ill never be that smart but a good teacher is someone who can educate and understand things at a very high level like my old maths lecturer =p he helped come up with the algorithm for 3g was naff at explaining the basic things ... like integration but explaing his work he was great at it. but yeah im sure he is ment to and anyways lets keep the rants kinda positive

a rant is always negative, that is the point of a rant.
for me a geek is someone who plays super mario, thinks nintendo produces the best platform, browses 9gag on his iphone and is actually rather stupid. it's some really retarded thing the media and society came up with lately since now it is cool to be what was hated just a few years ago. i hope you have a different definition of the word geek and don't apply to my description, but i am quite confident because else you probably wouldnt be around in this forum. i don't know any person i'd consider highly intelligent that would actually call himself a geek, that is more an insult than anything else imo.

tech head is a general term. there is loads of different tech heads, some that really are what they say and some just play angry birds and watch tbbt. for me a geek is what tbbt shows, and i definitely don't ever want to become such a horrible person.
