PCI fan mounts for internal cooling

So, I'm going to be building a black and yellow themed PC in a little bit and I've rigorously stuck to that scheme excepting that I've already bought an HD 7850 with a red PCB and now want to hide it. Found a (seriously overpriced IMO) backplate for reference models only but mine isn't. Then I found out that you can get PCI fan-mounts, which seemed pretty cool and would do the job of hiding the undesirable colour (yes, this is mostly about aesthetics and yes, I realize how silly that is).

Just wondering if...
a) anyone has used these things before
b) they're any good
c) there's any point in cooling the back PCB of the card
d) anyone knows where to get one in the UK?

ive never personally used one but if you can direct airflow towards the core of the card it will help though i dont know how much. if you have memory chips on the back of the card it will help even more

I think fans there would look worse than any pcb...

Which 7850 do you have?

That one. Which totally fits the design, except the PCB color. I've just been quite careful to avoid any colour at all apart from black and yellow and I think the PCB is really going to stick out.

Not sure about your config/mobo, but 25mm fans would not fit between my first x16 slot and the clips on the ram slots, or maybe even the ram itself.

BTW - have you tried unplugging a few fans and see what actually happens to your temps?

hehe. I could and it would be pointless. The side takes 4x140mm fans, 2 in the front, 2 in the roof, which takes it up to 8 before even considering the fans on the actual components but that would just be doing it for the sake of it (plus, I prefer the big 230mm fans that fit in the same slots).

Thing is, I'm not just doing this for nothing; I'm doing it for aesthetics. Even if that is a bit silly, it is a valid reason. I'm planning on using an AsRock Z77 Extreme 4 with Mushkin Radioactive (same as frostbyte) RAM. I think it should fit OK, but if it doesn't; oh well, I'm down about a fiver. I'll live.

Plus, if there's no point whatsoever in cooling the back of the PCB, I could turn them the other way so the heat coming from it doesn't affect the overall temp in the case; it'll send it straight up and cool to the roof/back exhaust. Almost pointless, but perhaps not entireley.

In total I have 10 fans in my case - getting a couple more for aesthetics - but the thing is - my computer is still silent.
Gets a little extreme to mount fans on the outside but if you control them properly it's fine - and I dont mean with a fan controller!
