PCI Express 3.0 x16

Good idea with half hight pci bracket, this makes it easier. You should be able to install it like this, I think it's enough when you install it in the case's slot and fix it with the pci screw, now you have to figure out a way to mount the gpu, I think the screws at the pci bracket wont be enough

Task #1 - find out if I can get the OCZ to do what you said - not sure it will work - need to see if they make a HH bracket or if the card is just HH.

Task #2 - why will the screws not be enough for the GPU? And do you mean for all my GPUs or just the 9/10 one?

Have you considered just getting rid of the OCZ SSD and purchasing some SATA ones? Then you can just use all four cards normally without these extensions.

If you decide to use the extensions you will definitely need to modify the case to support at least two of the GPU's and the OCZ SSD floating several CM's away from the motherboard so that the extensions can engage the PCIe slots properly.

Well we may have solved the OCZ floating problem - need to check this though - basically need a HH bracket that goes full length to tough th other side (closest to mb) of the case.

How would I need to modify the case for the GPU and why?

The OCZ is 2000 read/write compared to 400/500. So would rather keep it if possible.

Normally the gpu are supported by the screws and the pci slot, now the slot is just hanging in the air and not supporting the card.

Huh? Pardon my ignorance but the GPU will be screwed into PCI slot 9 and 10. There are two real slots for it on the case.

The SSD I want to put in real space 8 somehow - since its a HH card that will get me away from those front IO - just how to mount it so it dosent hang on just the one screw - need to extend the HH plate somehow or find some way to fix it.

I don't see how the OCZ using a half height or a full height bracket will make a difference.

And the reason you'd need to modify the case is because once you fit the GPU with these extensions they are losing a lot of their support (The PCIe slot itself) so you will need to provide some kind of strut to hold the cards securely.

You won't be able to fit the card there because the PCIe ribbon cable will not bend to that extreme to be able to both fit in the slot of the motherboard and come down and plug in to a card. You'd need to suspend the card over the slot several CM's - What you're talking about is like putting the card directly next to the slot at the same elevation, not possible.

1. this means the ssd's connector is further away for the mb, which give him room to plug the cable in obove the fp connectors

2.That's what i meant before, the card will hang down when it's only held by the screws

The OCZ HH is good becasue it means we can fit the ribbon and it wont smash into the front i/o on the motherboard.

Okay so for one GPU I would need a struct because it lost the PCIe - suggestions on this then? See if I can think of something now I get what you mean :)

Surely with a 19cm PCIe ribbon you could make it have a neat curve to it?

Okay so how to fix number 2?

Being the only (bar the cable bend - but not sure about that) problem left - aside form the mounting on the SSD too.

you could just cut a piece of metal (alu u profile) und paint it black, powercolor ship a support with their devil13 7990, not sure if you can buy something like this

So why suspend two GPUs? Because of the gap to the PCIe Slot to the GPU?
And not sure that would work with the PCI slots and gab between the card and the mobo.

How about

GPU1
**
GPU2
**
Ribbon to GPU4
SSD
GPU3
***
GPU4 (From Ribbon)
**
** (blank pci slot 10)

??
Then I dont need a support for the SSD just GPU4

This would also mean far less tight bends, you just need a very long cable or maybe it's possible to put 3 or 4 toghter

Because if you don't suspend the GPU on the left you won't be able to get the PCIe extension in to the PCIe slot. It will be blocked by the cooler on the GPU. The cable won't bend to such an extreme to make it fit under the cooler.

Also something to keep in mind, the longer the extension you end up using the higher the chances that you will not meet full bandwidth potential. Keep the extensions as short as possible.

Oh yeah sorry forgot about that - my bad.

So what about my solution above or even another alternative?
