PCI-E 2.0 cards

Ive currently got an asrock mobo with PCI-E x4 (i know dont ask, im replacing it soon) with a PCI-E 1.0 slot. if i put a PCi-E 2.0 card into it (besides the x4 slot) would i lose performance using the 1.0 slot?

is you mean because the card is data starved, then probably not, just aslong as it is a full x16 slot pcie 1.0 not a x4 slot that you are talking about. sort the motherboard first...

The card will be a little constrained by the lack of overall bandwidth, but you wont notice it tbh.

The board has a x16 physical length slot which only runs at x4 bandwidth. I say 'only'. It made no difference beside a few 3d marks when i tested em with a 7800.

Im afraid a 7800 is very different to a 8800. Tests by THWG show that even the older 8800GTS is limited by 8x in some things, 4 will give a HUGE performance drop im afriad.

As for the pci-e1 thing IDK if it will work on pcie1 it will work on 1.1 with no performance drop/gain.
