PCI card not detected by PC

Hi,

I installed a Peak dual tv tuner into my Gdads pc and it worked then the pc didnt detect it the morning after device manager just listed it under USb and "Unknown Device" even though the drivers are installed.

Then i unplugged it plugged it back int each of the two motherboard slots several time to no success, so i tried a different pci card which i knew was working still didnt detect that either just "Unknown Device".

But then after i unplugged it and plugged it in a few more ime it worked again till a few hours later then back to square one.

the card is not faulty, and i reinstalled windows all up to date drivers, could it be the motherboard is faulty?

Either something is wrong with the motherboard or the PSU is not strong enough to power the PCI slots?

there is only a

Athlon 64 x2

dvd drive

2GB ram

and a HDD

in the pc PSU is 300W nothing OC surly the pc can handle all that

PSU calculator calculates that with my spec at 90% load will use 267watts so wouldnt 300 be fine as well as pc wont be running at 90%load just watching tv

Hmm not sure then mate. It sounds like one of those weird issues that goes away when you get a new mobo.

Could be a USB device trying to grab the same IRQ as the PCI slots. Try pulling them out one by one and see if it makes any difference.

ow would I solve this if I found one doing it?

edit: unplugged every usb device still does not detect it if I un plug and plug it back in it works for a day or until its switched off for a few hours then it doesn't detect it when it is turned back on.

please help don't want ro spend more money on a new mb if it is not the problem
