PC wont shut down properly

Hi,

MY pc after changing Mb and CPU doesn't always shut down properly it stays on "logging off" for up to 7 minuets before finally changing to shutting down then turning off.

Did you reinstall windows or reused your old install?

always reinstall windows man conflicting drivers with cpus messes up windows big time especially is your switching from amd to intel or visa versa

to be honest, i'm surprised it let you into windows without any major arseache.
i installed a new graphics card and it demanded i re-register windows lol.

also, i have had this and it turned out to be a corrupted update, you could try system restore, but i would suggest backing up all critical files, biting the bullet and fresh install time

Its a fresh copy of windows.

but its still showing logging off for up to 7 minuets some times doesnt do it, this is the last problem i have to solve with this set up then its all good.

you are having a driver or app that will not close on command. and the manager is time-out protocol.
how many processes are running after 3minutes of inital login?

80 processes, think it maybe a program as if the box comes up for force shut down its all fine when i have nothing open and shut down thats when it does it.
How can i narrow down what program?

i still cant find the program that is stopping the pc from shutting down if i click force shut down it will shut-down every time if i have nothing open and shut down it takes up to 7 minuets to get past "logging off"

you might check into the MS app Fix-It.
a driver or a registry app isnt in command.
assuming this is Windows 7?

I i exit all tray programs

Logitech LCD manager
Logitech g panel
Asus AI suit
Hamachi
sound blaster panel

it shuts down fine i just cant quite get to which one is causing it.

try the programs one by one.
i don't recognise hamachi, but after a quick google it appears to be a vpn program which might be keeping the machine alive so try that one first

Hamachi is mainly used for Minecraft, is it not? I use it as an alternative to Port Forwarding - it's unlikely to be Hamachi.

either way close one program and try logging off, if it closes normally then thats the culprit

If you really can't find it do a fresh install and then reboot after every driver you install so you know which one's the problem if the problem returns.

Yeah go with what Vengeance has suggested. You need to close one program at a time to determine the one causing the issues.

i think its asus services that might be causing it.

ive seen alot of chatter on the AI suite and some of the "add-ons" freezing, BSOD or
fouling a fresh install ofthe OS. especially the USB 3.0 Boost. another look would be
your SATA connection. are you on the Intel or Marvel port? the controllers react differently
after drive installation of different devices and softies.

I disabled the USB boost and I think its sorted it, it hasn't done it since.
