PC vs Console

But i will ask you guys whats the best game that i can play with a gtx670, the most wonderfull piece of art that you have seen (ill try to buy it and give it a try, so get into an agreement and what do you think it is the best to really see the difference)

The most recent beautiful game I have played is Guild Wars 2. So much time has gone into modelling the environment, even areas where only 30% of players may go and that impresses me. I also love their concept art which their UI is based on.

FarCry3 also looks incredible on PC.

Then you haven't really PLAYED PC games, and shouldn't have started this mess. Grab a copy of Fallout 3 (which you should be able to get cheap). That game is an experience, but it's not too pretty (post apocalyptic earth SHOULDN'T be pretty though). For pretty, try Skyrim.

Or simply install the HD texture pack from Bethesda.

FOOK (Fall Out Overhaul Kit) and the weather/snow/rain mod and you have a game that looks every bit as good as Skyrim.

The pack I linked to was actually an official Bethesda pack that they sneaked out after release because at that time there wasn't a GPU powerful enough :lol:

It took a 280 with 2XAA for me to get it moving and it was sooo slow in VATS. Obviously that's why they removed it tbh as it was really hard on hardware.

It's probably the same with Skyrim (I never could get into that, just not a spells sort of person) as usually when you push a game engine to do things it wasn't designed to you multiply the horsepower needed by about 20 lol.

That's an awful thread to go through due to the almost 900 pages, but the first post was updated with some mod info. I'll be digging into that once I rebuild my PC.

Anyway, I own a PS3, and have gamed on the PC.

Bottom line for me: There is some absolutely amazing stuff that can only be done on the PC, but
for the most part, I just care about the game and not the platform. If a phenomenal game is only
available on Console (Metal Gear Solid 4, for example), I'll happily play that on my PS3 and
enjoy the living bollocks out of it.

If it's available for both PC (meaning Linux, whether native or with Wine ) and console I'll
usually prefer the PC.

Technical merits are probably on the PC's side, economical benefits might be on the
console's side, but what I mostly care about is enjoyment, and I've played both great PC
games and great console titles.

But to be honest, I have no emotional attachment to either platform, only to the games.

LOL , well I guess he started this thread in the right place , because he sure did alot of ranting and then left because he realized it's a pointless discussion.
Different people like different games on whatever platform they like.
For me there's more plus's on a PC , the only plus for a console is cost and convenience.

Here's A question , everything a console can do a pc can do better , with that in mind can u play a real time strategy game on a console ? without wanting to claw your eyes out ? If a game comes out on a console u can emulate it on a pc but can u emulate pc only games on a console? dont get me wrong i own all three consoles and a gaming rig so i think i can speak as a gamer , nothing in my experience can lead me to beleive a console is better than a pc , aside from price there are no advantages to a console , they ruin multiplayer by matchmaking everything, they charge u for every map they bring out or to put a tshirt on your avatar , or to do anything anymore, can you mod games on console?

Coming from someone who has had around 4 hexbox 360s (this was pre jasper chip red ring 'o' death goodness.)a ps3 (died today. rip.), around 2 ps2s, an xbox, a ps1 and a '64 I can safely say console gaming is pretty damn awful.

For starters the online gaming community on PC is much, much more polite, friendly and intelligent than your average xbox live lobby (there are a few exceptions admittedly). When I hopped over to playing games on pc I was amazed when people weren't; a)having a massive fight, b)falling for trolls,and c) spamming the chat with dick jokes.

I could also go on about lack of modding, humble bundles, prices of triple A games, poor build quality (I've had more xboxes than sticks of RAM at this point.) and increasing lack of backwards compatibility.

However, I've always found driving games on a controller to be much better, which is hence why I still keep my 360 around. Forza is beast.


-EDIT- I'm also much more proud of my pc game collection (around 60 games) than my console gaming collection ( I know I have at least a -smallish- carboard box full of playstation 1,2 and 3 stuff which is the same for my xboxes). Heck, I'm pretty sure I'm more proud of midtown madness 2 than any of my halos.

Now that was a fun game. That dungeon keeper and Ultimate soccer manager, grand prix legends and grand prix world coupled with fifa 99 were my youth lol. I wish they made games like them again especially dungeon keeper god I would love a remastered version or just a new game.

YES.Someone else played Midtown. I have 1 (sadly that was too old even for xp),2 (I've got it to work on a vista machine once) and 3( lol xbox).
