Looking for some decent rpg's for the pc (mainly so i have something to play when traveling once the compo laptop gets here :D), idealy something that plays similar to final fantasy 10/10-2/13 or resonance of fate, mabey even something that plays like good old final fantasy 7 aslong as it has a good story, not looking for rpg's like diablo or fall out 3/oblivion as i tend to play them WAY to much once i get started trying to level up ect and just ignore the story, ill most likely be using a wired 360 pad with pinacle game profiler if needed as i cant be bothered trying to use a mouse on a bus seat.

Decent graphics arent esential but are plus so i can turn the quality up if the laptop handles the game well.

Dragon Age: Origins? Or is that not what you are looking for?

It has a story that will keep you busy for quite some time, especially if you're going to download (woops I meant BUY ofcourse :p) the expansion packs. It's what I'm playing these days along with C&C3 but that's not a RPG.

already got dragon age, its ok but not amazing, cant wait to get the new c&c game, tiberium twilight, looks amazing except you need to be connected to the net to play it, god damn ocd drm D:

KOTOR, awesome story, you can pause it to set up battle moves (so good for laptop) came out on original xbox aswell, but I haven't tried it with a 360 pad so no idea.

mhmm ill give it a look, if you can pause to select what to do it will probably be alright on the track pad as you dont have to be to quick

You can get KOTOR + KOTOR2 for like 2 for £15 at GAME last time I checked in my local store.

C&C4 is like the worst C&C ever released.

i play a lot of rpgs especially final fantasy, for pc I would reccomend the origional fable and fable III when it comes out, also have last remnant, which is made my square enix which isn't too bad and quite cheap these days for a tenner. I would also say guild wars is a good rpg but it is a mmo, so does need to be played online but you can play the whole campaign without ever talking to anyone on it if you so wish.

I am pleasantly surprised to see someone else here who also plays RPGs.

I've been playing them since NWN 1, so I do have a stuffy shirt I put on for such occasions

hehe.

Since you would like better graphics, that leaves NWN 1 and early Obsidian in the dust.

So, IMHO:

Dragon Age - Pretty, with a gritty story, and some really awesome combat; unless you wouldn't be a fan of using

the pause key. I've played it through a few times and its finally getting old.

Mass Effect Series - If you NEED swords and sorcery, just walk on by. Another with a wonderful story and

graphics to match. I have to admit I've played ME2 over 200 hours (I can't wait for the replies to

that). Nice point is if you start with ME1 you can import/play that character to ME2, and yes, to

ME3. Your choices, actions, and such do reflect in the next games too! I'm playing ME2 on hardcore

right now for kicks and giggles.

Fallout3/New Vegas - Though New Vegas is basically more of the same and I got bored with it, the first one is

just the bee's knees, plus there's mods out there of every sort to keep you grinning with

ultra-violence joy.

Drakensang - This one is from Germany and based on PnP favorite (or so they say) out there. Its graphically

nice, but to be honest not my cuppa tea. If you want a hardcore RPG, this may be what you're

for. Oodles of dialogue and party-style combat make this an alternative to NWN2 (which I played

after years of NWN1 and found it clunky, and well, boring).

I won't mention the Oblivion series except to say they exist and I do believe that for story, they're supposedly very nicely done. For myself, they were clunky, bloated, and just drove me to almost tearing off my hard drive w/ my teeth. I WILL recommend the Thief series in case you like a very nicely done stealth game... "Deadly Shadows" probably the best of the series. It does have slight RPG elements and a story too.

I"m sure I have left out or piddled all over a few people's opinions, and for that well... these are my opinions and to be treated as such.

I did hear rumors of EA coming out with a new RPG next year too. Apparently the boxing contains a sword, dagger, armor, and one heal pot. Each will be localized to the player's home area, and updated monthly with a small subscription. From what I understand you're supposed to put on the armor, gear up, then go to a location (so far I understand they're sports bars) with a specific list of people and lines you're to read to them. Hilarity COULD ensue !
