PC Microworks developing new laptop form factor....good idea?

howdy,

just got an email from PC Microworks (they sell mental spec laptops ) and they say they are developing a laptop form factor so that everyone can Upgrade their laptops in the future easily.

Dosent intel usually come up with form factors? It sounds like a good idea in theory but stuff like this dosent usually catch on iirc
