PC Gamers sabotage RTX 3080 eBay listings as scalpers attempt quick sales

i don´t know how this works (fake accounts).. but then i have not made an ebay account for some time.

but if i remember correctly i had to validate my ebay account with an image of my passport and having a valid bank account. but well that was 18 years ago.

HA! It is nice to see a little justice for once. Hopefully lots of bad things happen to these scumbags.

What would be nice if there's enough stock that e-tailers have to stop gouging the price and the scalpers have to sell at a loss or keep hold of the cards

How does it work, though? The bot creates an account, which can instantly place bids and if the auction timer runs out, you'd still have to pay, right? Maybe that's just a Germany thing, but I thought by placing a bid you're willing to accept a purchase contract and therefore have to pay IF you win the auction.

Watch this video from JayzTwocents, where they discuss this exact topic and explain it rather well. Both regarding the bot itself, how it works, how eBay works in this instance and how/what it does as an effect as a whole. I personally found it very interesting :)
