PC Failure + Tight Budget = This Build Idea

well trying to figure best choices still supose ssd would be not nessary was just thinking of future with encoding.

edit i want speed and relibilty why i looked at ssd bort i can get a biger drive by going with a "Western Digital VelociRaptor WD1000DHTZ 1TB 10000 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive" i supose.

If you do 'encoding,' why dont you go 2011?

is 2011 really better for encoding then z77?? if so i dint know that, thats why i ask for advice from people like you all since u all are more like my brother may he rest in peace

edit 1: i love to encode and wonder if thats what kiled my old p55

edit 2: i supose if i go x79, the ASRock X79 Extreme9 should be a good base.

acording to ASRock, a novice like me can OC a 3960X to 5GHz on a X79 Extreme9

edit 1: i want to start with a proper base for being a serious encoder.

You don't have to go for the best if you are not OC'ing! A EX9 is a proper overclocking board, yes, you may be 5GHz but you won't without some serious cooling. Can you not just stick to a build and follow it through?

i am trying to figure the best way for me to go i am more in to encoding then gaming. don't get me wrong i do game but i love encoding more. as for a 2011 motherboard u recomend, i am not sure what board be best to go with. just seams one gets a lot of bang for the buck through ASRock. i want to fill the board with 64GB's of ram to do a ram disk and the extreme 9 had the caching setup as well, which i liked a lot.

to get going i need motherboard, cpu, ram, boot drive, psu, and fans to make my 800d run cooler. so here is a list of requirements i need and im pusting now and u ll can make sugestions on best bang for buck.
  • 2011 board atx size and dual sli suport
  • 64GB Ram for ram disk
  • 1 boot drive for os and games
  • 5 3tb storage drives (projects, videos, music, pictures, torrents) i take lots pics and i filed a 2 tb with noting but pictures and art in old p55 system
  • dual BD Burrners with light scribe and mdisk support
  • CPU cooler
  • fans to replace all and fill my 800d case

so now that u all know what i want to do plz start suggesting the best parts for those needs.

Our tight budget is obviously not very tight because that setup without bein specific would cost an absolute fortune like i have spent almost £3000 and im not finished and im nowhere near the same level of spec as you are looking at with 5 3tb drives 2 bluray burners im not trying to be a downer but that is gonna be so unbelievably expensive. You seriously should reconsider. Do you really need 64gb with a ram disk thats 500$ for vengeance 1600. That alone seems to be a big chunk of your budget. Why not just settle for a slightly slower system at a fraction the price. With 670s instead of 680s with a 3570 instead of a 3960x 32gb instead of 64gb (16 would be adequate). An h100 and a mild overclock and work away. Save yourself a few quid

Edit. That wd raptor will be hot and loud. Dont bother with 2011 unless you are prepared to spend a good amount

I give up

i gave up guessing and that's why i was asking what u recommend, if u give up ill try to figure out on my own. ty for the 2011 socket tip though.

right now looking for the base componats, motherboard, cpu, os/games drive, cpu cooler, case fans.

Edit: im flip flopy becase everyone keeps telling me do this or not to do this. my knodle is enought to asemble it but not so much picking the parts. my dead brother allways told me what to buy , and lets face it no way i can now is there. i am good at asembloing and installing software, my main intrest in the build is to do encoding digital media and some light gameing i have dual 280s i can use for now but later i hope to get some dual sli cardss of a dx11 form of some kind. but basickly all i waant now is sugestion for motherboard & cpu knowing what i plan to do.

Thanks in Advance, GamerGirlAlice

i was told with me being a hard core encoder id be better off with a x79

so minimum features i want supported are

6x sata iii 6gb/s ports

64gb max ram for a ram disk

edit: i found the Gigabyte X79-UD5 meets mi minimum requirements

not being funny but if your a hard core encoder then you should be telling me how to do this and not the other way around
