Took my first microsoft certification today and passed!!!

I'm now a MCP, looking forward to the next 6....not.

Have we any other mcp's or higher in here?

Ah nice one.

Nope, done a WS2k3 Admin course last week, and got a sus-tificate :p (was a great course tbh)

It`s one of those many little things, as ur aware, that can lead towards mcp if u choose to pursue it. U probably done it or will do.

Grats mate, nice work

I've got some SAP qualifications behind me :) Along with my degree etc of course. On my way to some more

Always thought about MS Certs but never got around to em

mcse here.. its a joke tho.. pointless IMHO.

I dunno, I mean in terms of putting it to use - granted u often know the stuff already and implement it whilst ur working anyhow, in the main.

But in term of applying to prospective employers, it's another one of those recognizable feathers in the cap. Widely respected.

Of course a degree is the massive foot in the door - experience is a banker - certificates are ~good~ and m$ stuff is very widely appreciated.

These things all cost money, so it's nice when ur employer encourages it both by funding and allowing u time ;)

Nah, for the last 6 months i've been looking at jobs, 80% of them require either a mcsa or a mcse. still worth doing them imo. Nothing beats experiance and qualifications.

To do them you use the prometric test centres (www.prometric.com) and its cost £88 for the exam but microsoft are offering a free second chance offer at the moment.

yes you are right, it is a way to get your foot in the door.

But in the real world. I have yet to see myself actually use their ideas. Its 90% of the time, I come in it is setup a certain way and I will just re org so it logically flows better in AD. The way MS wants it done is something comepletely backwards. Those of you who know it and do it know exactly what I am talking about.

I am now going for my CISSP. I think im gonna make the jump to the security side..
