I dunno, I mean in terms of putting it to use - granted u often know the stuff already and implement it whilst ur working anyhow, in the main.
But in term of applying to prospective employers, it's another one of those recognizable feathers in the cap. Widely respected.
Of course a degree is the massive foot in the door - experience is a banker - certificates are ~good~ and m$ stuff is very widely appreciated.
These things all cost money, so it's nice when ur employer encourages it both by funding and allowing u time
