P67 Sabertooth cooling

Hey Guys

I am planning on getting the Asus Sabertooth P67 motherboard after reading OC3D's review.

I wanted to know how necessary a face down cooler is to keep the motherboard cool,

I have a Thermaltake Frio atm and would like keep that if I could, though I would rather buy a new cooler than install a 40mm fan..

thanks.

Don't have any personal experience with this board, but if it was me I'd remove the armour and run it naked....

that was my original plan, run it with the thermal armour (for the looks) and if its too hot I was going to remove it.

BUT I like the look so much I would be happy to invest in a new cooler.

I would say Noctua NH-C14 .

well yea I knew I was going to be getting that if I needed to, almost goes without saying lol.

I'm just not 100% as to whether I need a face down cooler to keep the board cool

BigIan88 has a Sabretooth with a D14 i'm not sure if he has a fan underneath the mobo but I haven't seen make any posts about bad temps so I think you may be ok.

Thanks SieB, I'll probably stick with my Frio for a now as a D14 wont fit in my case =(

I'm a lot more confident about this board no

thanks

From what I've heard, if you put one in the temps seem to drop pretty significantly. And the little fans are cheap and not that bad aesthetically.

But even if you don't use one the temps won't get out of hand. The second reviewer here goes into a bit of detail about it.
