P5k3 Deluxe and 775 kit install

Hi All

Just wondering if anyone has fitted a 775 kit to a Asus P5K3 deluxe yet.

Thinking of upgrading my P5W DH but don't know if there will be a problem fitting kit with the 2 reg heatpipes around the socket area.

Any help appreciated.

Kit wont Fit P5K3 Deluxe Board

I have bought a P5K3 Deluxe motherboard for my upcomming upgrade.

The only problem is that the 775 kit will not fit without modification.

The top row of caps ringed has a slight step in it that comes into contact with the evap mounting as can be seen below.

This stops it lining up with the holes in the motherboard.

This will mean that approximatly 2MM of plastic will have to be removed as indicated.

Does anyone think this will cause a problem with the mounting ?.

I will get my Dremell out tonight when kids in bed and post pic's later.

Just be careful that you dont cut deeper than you need to so the lugs and the frame have enough support

Fitting Complete

I got my Dremell out and attacked the Evap mount.

​

You can see that about 2 mm needed to be removed to clear the caps.

On closer inspection you can see that there are a couple of uneven areas but this is intentional to recess where the caps are and to leave as much meat as possible for strenth. The image below shows up the area better as i have adjusted the image in photoshop to high light the edge.

And finally the item fitted and ready to go.
