Hi, im kinda new so to overclocking so...

I was thinking buying a core i5 with corsair h50,

but i'm not very good with motherboards, only recommendations i got was the asus maximus III Gene and Evga p55Ftw.

Got around 600$ for upgrade, with the core i5 and the memory i still have 300$ left.

My only complaint would be my power supply , it's a Orion 585 watts , voltages are fine but when i'm going to push that thing... is it going to blow up?

We have reviewed several boards here dude but tbh Id say go with one of the Asus boards, they all clock near as damit the same anyways.

PSU wise it wont blow up, but if you want to push things you will need a good quality psu like a Corsair for example to help keep the voltages nice and stable.

I mean i have heard of power supplies that blow the motherboards ,cpu etc when you ask it too much or when it's bad quality.

I guess i'll go with the maximus III formula really like the bells and whistle on that thing.

looking at it, i've heard p7p55d does pretty much the same job as a ROG maximus for almost half the price, the thing that interest me on the maximus is the sound card, but i guess i'll buy a cheap one that.

I mean it's like 180$ vs 260$, not claiming i can't buy it but it looks goddamn overpriced

yer the some of the ASUS p7 boards are very good, just make sure you pick one with 2 *16 PCI slots as alot of the boards run 1 at 16* and the other at 8*

well my actual setup is like this

Amd athlon x2 4400+

HIS hd4850 turboX

2gb Ram scrapware

acer motherboard scrapware

Orion 585watts

basically i update it to remove all old acer stuff

H55 & P55 only natively support 1x 16 and 2x 8 matey as thats all they have to offer without extra chips like the NF200 to add more PCIE lanes.

I dont want to bug you off but recently heard about new amd Phenom ii x6 1055t

Pairing it with a crosshair IV can be as good as a 920 core i7 ?
