The processor has different numbers on it and the motherboard has actually left some marks on it ( on the side because of that lever that pushes the cpu in ) so I would notice the marks.

And we have flashed my friends bios to 1.80, and it should support the 4790k since the 1.70 upgrade

Is the 4.2ghz normal when running stress test on all cores? Isn't it supposed to go to 4ghz when all cores are being used?

Anyway I'm right before RMA of 2nd 4790k.

The Intel representative has told me to try to stress test with their program:

I would change the cooler first to see what happens if you put a better cooler on it. If that doesn't help, i would check if the loadline calibration is ok on the board.
If you leave it on auto it will give too much volt for the cores.

When you installed the cooler you had not removed the plastic covering on the part that connects with the cpu
