Hello All,

Was recommend here by a freind who says the USA guys should be on soon and there offer the BEST help.

Right anyway got a new Machine

E6400

Asus P5LP-LE mobo locked to Compaq (HP)

Anyway to overclock it ?

If i can and get it going im going to get some good cooling for it

thanks all!

I believe that you are not able to overclock a prebuilt system. You would have to build it yourself or get a new mobo for it in order to overclock.

A new mobo would be your best bet yeah. The one you have is custom build by Asus for HP and therefore won't be designed for anything but stock really.

You could try clockgen or a AI booster if you were desperate but i really can't recommend them.

Is there any chance of flashing the board with a standard Asus BIOS? Might open up a few more options :\ I'm only guessing tho..

That would be me who recommended him. I said the USA guys would be on soon and would be able to offer good help lol...not the best :P

I would say XMS has the best idea here of reflashing the board. Just do it using Asus update. Very easy and never gone wrong for me (ive reflashed several times).

Also as Ham said, you could try a software overclocker but they are pants compared to bios

I would still say just get a new motherboard, its my opinion though, I like being able to touch stuff I don't know about.

Yes i could flash the bios but a) My mobo is not listed in the Asus support section. Looks like this Mobo is only made for pre bulit systems.

Usually with a retail-prebuilt, flashing the bios can help unleash the mobo a bit.

Must be different to the HP E6400 I get in cos they aint ASUS afaik.

I had a Packard bell machine ALONG time ago and i unbranded that. But that is only because the mobo was lissted on the Asus website.

It only took me 25 minutes to fully assemble my computer and start installing xp, that was my first build and i was in a rush, should've seen my case talk about no cable managment. The only thing that would take a while is the RMA if a part is dead.
