Overclocking Gigabyte r9 270x

Ok so after having finally getting my card to run full 16x, I'd like to see how far I can push the OC.

I fully understand the basics of overclocking - we are Overclock3D after all - but I've only just upgraded to the r9 series and have no past experience with the ''power limit'' setting (pictured below).

More than anything else I'd love for someone to explain what this setting does, and also if there's any way to get the original voltage settings back..?

GPU runs stock @53 degrees @99% load after 30minz, so with the cooler being excellent I'm thinking I can bump the volts quite high and still be reasonably safe temp wise, but I have no idea how to bump volts :P

Thanks all :)

Power limit just allows your card to take on more power to push overclocks further, say you have a 200w card, adding 5% will give it 10watts more of power.

Does it do that by increasing volts, or amps? I'm assuming amps as the slider anywhere between +0 and +20% makes no difference to my max OC :/

I really need to find a way to up the voltage, I'm sitting at a max core OC of +60mhz, which is nothing... Is there a chance the card doesn't support voltage tweaks at all(?) since I have all the voltage options in afterburner ticked, and the UELA-what-do-ya-call-it done too, but the area is still grayed out :/

Go to settings and click on "unlock voltage control" and at the bottom "extend official overclocking limits" and leave "disable ULPS. Should allow you to adjust everything.

Starting to think my GPU is actually voltage locked... any point maybe trying PrecisionX..?

I was just making sure you had it done correctly lol
The Gpu bios may be preventing you from over volting. Look into one to see if you can unlock it?

Precision X only works correctly with Nvidia cards iirc.

here is what my settings look like if it helps
its for 7970's but nearly the same thing
bear in mind this is under water

I could only push my 270x as far as 1200MHz on air, hope you have more luck! I'm using a Vapor-X.
