Overclocking CPU causes sound issues

Hey

i recently got a new system;

Asus crosshair IV and a phenom II 970 cpu.

when i overclocked the processor to 4Ghz i have experianced sound issues like popping and distortion, this mainly occurs when there is a change from absolute zero to some output (say if i press push to talk on ventrillo) im using the onboard sound with the motherboard which is VIA audio and software soundblaster X-Fi.

if i take the overclock back to stock settings the problem doesnt occur as much (tends to only make a popping sound when windows 7 starts up)

thanks for any help in advance

its a funny sort of thing to advertise a motherboard on its ability for overclocking and also the onboard sound card... aslong as the mobo i have isnt faulty im happy.

thanks for the quick reply man might have to look into a sound card or just go for stock settings.

been having a look around but i havnt had a propper sound card for so long i dont know what im looking for, anyone got any ideas of a good one... willing to spend around £30 ish. i use headphones all the time so i dont think i need any 7.1 audio

Just get USB headphones no need for soundcard then.
